My favorite genre of love: Loving to the point of intention.
There was once a very great American surgeon named Halsted. He was married to a nurse. He loved her - immeasurably. One day Halsted noticed that his wife's hands were chapped and red when she came back from surgery. And so he invented rubber gloves. For her. It is one of the great love stories in medicine. The difference between inspired medicine and uninspired medicine is love.
When I met Ana I knew:
I loved her to the point of intention.

Huskies. Dramatic even when you can't hear them..
A picture of a husky forlornly staring out of a car window while it rains.

It should be noted that she's refusing to look at the photographer.

Adding the other colours certainly helps a little.
Drawing of a skull in bright and warm colours.

Also, the skull has a detachable jaw. It is the Most satisfying if slightly fragile thing to play with.

The @prokotv.bsky.social kickstarter came in today and, oh my, is it humbling to try and draw a skull from a 3D model rather than a still image. The photo of gesture drawings might be my favourite page in either book.

I'm pretty sure The Offspring's current drummer Brandon Pertzborn needs to be studied. That kind of stamina can not be natural 😂 Their whole Sweden Rock set was hella impressive 🤘

The devoted crew is at it again tonight, this time helping with hedge removal and garden waste disposal. (Don't worry, they mainly just play with the branch and spit out the bark)
Two huskies are on the grass chewing on a branch.

The bigger of the two is lying down, the smaller is standing next to him.
The picture captures her mid blep as she's trying to get rid of the piece of bark she's just ripped off.

An impressive display by Husky Demolition Co. They tried to go into landscaping, but were having trouble with the rest of the process.

Some progress shots and the actual paints. He swears up and down he told me he left them, but they ended up the most pleasant surprise.
The three paints in a little chocolate tin. My computer desk with a complete mess of paints, water cups and other painting accessories on a cute but stained pikachu desk mat.
The half- finished painting is propped up by one of 2 screens which shows the reference photo for the environment.
The laptop is showing a YouTube video by Grian, a Minecraft YouTuber. An early version of the painting, with many of the colours blocked in but very little definition. The waterfall is basically a white blob. In this photo of the painting most of the details are in, the creature is casting shadows on the environment and there's a bit more work on the waterfall, but there's still a lack of cohesion and the water doesn't really feel like it's interacting with anything yet.

I made this painting with paints made by my father in law and it's blowing my mind that these are homemade. We gave my FiL Jackson's book on the history of pigments along with the supplies needed to DIY and he left me 3 pans. I can hardly believe how well they worked!
Watercolour painting of a big snake like creature climbing a cliff right next to a waterfall. There's a human shadow at the top, hidden amongst the trees, reaching to touch the creature who has a gentle smile on its turtle face.

The overall colour of the piece is a greenish yellow, with both the trees and the water going from a bluish dark green to a greenish yellow. The cliffs have hints of blue and that same yellow in the gray, both happy accidents from granulation and reflections of the light of the scene.
The creature itself is a muted and splotchy red, a little like a koi fish and it's body undulates across the cliffs and under the water as it plays with the waterfalls. It's body is dripping as if it only just rose from the water.

Even though the creature is big and powerful, the scene is supposed to convey a feeling of gentleness, peace and curiosity.

Before you go back to the discourse of how absolutely fucked up today has been, please enjoy my perfect husky daughter Athena being absolutely entranced by @annamegill.com's Threshold Kids. She wasn't satisfied until I played it for her twice over.
A husky is watching the TV intently, head slightly cocked. It's displaying Control the videogame, specifically one of the slightly disturbing puppet show videos hidden throughout. The same husky is coyly looking over her shoulder, as the character on screen laments his missing mother. The husky is clearly demanding another replay of the puppet's turmoil.

Chilling with my recovering cat and it's the perfect time to finally get started on the Adventure in Transylvania set! Y'all, this is a lot of Lego...
View of my legs as I'm sat on the floor in the quarantine zone with a box of Lego in my lap. Mike can't walk very well anymore, so we've caged off a few square meters and padded the floor with nice soft surfaces. A close up of the big box of Lego and all of the bags that were in it; 48 in all I believe!

The crime... vs the criminals.
Photo of a rubbish bin filled with husky hair. Photo of two angelic huskies who have clearly never done anything wrong in their entire lives.
I'm not sure what their relationship could be to the previous picture.

Added the tail which I'd been putting off for no good reason.

I made a deal with myself that if I can sculpt 10 printable models before my birthday, I can get a resin 3D printer. The self-bribery I have to do to stick with a new hobby is a little ridiculous.. but so far it seems be working as this is already 5/10 😉

I wish I didn't tie self-worth to productivity, but damn does that dopamine hit hard. My AInxiety game project is coming along well, the zoo is all tuckered out, and this practice piece is coming out way better than anticipated.
A digital sketch in progress of a pomegranate hanging in a tree. The background is just streaks of colour, but the fruit itself is pretty realistic and glistens in the sun if you squint.

Hopefully I can brighten up your timeline and little bit with some pictures of our new pup Athena whom we adopted last Christmas and who might be the sassiest husky in the world.
A very clear picture of Athena as she sits on a chair on a balcony.
Her fur is mostly white with streaks of grey that turn a reddish brown in the sunlight. She has a red nose and a confident look in her brown eyes. The derpiest picture I have ever taken of Athena & Fenrir, both huskies, cuddling on a bed. Athena is only 7 months old in this picture and has severe gremlin energy.Digital drawing of Athena in bright green and dark blue with a hot pink background. It's been almost 2 years without any social media, and while I think it's been good to wean off my brain, it's also been really isolating. I have to admit, part of it is the minor anxiety around AI and desire to learn new skills again. (Such as 3D sculpting)
A 3D model of a chubby hamster modelled off a painting of said hamster being carried by chopsticks.
The screenshot shows this in a 3D model sculpting app called Nomad Sculpt.

Ended up procrastinating even further and noodling some more on that second study. The power of sleep deprived procrastination really is something!
The study of the woman in the green shirt from the previous post, with a pink, magical ribbon snaking down her held up arm and around her body. The bounce light on her hair and face was kind of successful, but I am so out of my depth on adding it to her clothes.

Never knew that doing studies was actually THIS helpful; if only just because you're getting something on the page. Order is my study, reference, study, reference.
Black and white study of a portrait of a woman with a strappy necklace. She's wistfully looking off to the side, her long silky hair covering part of her face. Original painting by Sam Yang.Original painting by Sam Yang.
The proportions are a bit different and his shading is much more subtle.Study of an asian woman with her black hair in cute buns. Wisps are flying in her face and getting stuck to her features. She's got winged eyeliner and subtly pink glossy lips.

The woman is holding up a monstera leaf in her left hand, over her right shoulder. Her face is a little bigger and more heartshaped than I ended up drawing it.

Not intending to make a habit of this, but first time in a while that I'm happy with how a digital painting came out 😁 Finally getting the hang of adding texture when painting on my phone, though it's still a little hard to control.
Digital sketchy painting of an Asian woman holding her hand curled up to her face. She's looking at the viewer inquisitively as if they just asked her a question.

Once you get used to the staring for continued masking, it's kind of nice that no one sits next to you on public transport.

Moving to Sweden was maybe not my choice, but staying here definitely is 🥰 and with a look on his face like that I don't Fenrir would ever let us leave anyway 😅

The best part about supporting your favourite artists is that you sometimes get to enjoy their work beyond the screen. Look at this magnificent Pikachu by www.youtube.com/alpayefe that just came in 😍🥰

But first.. A palette cleanser
A cute husky lies on a sofa, looking up at the camera with his extremely pale eyes. His elbows are folded in, compressing him into a weird bun-shape.

As a fellow chocolate milk aficionado I can highly recommend a teaspoon of the juice of amareno cherries. Or my personal favourite: a small pump of a salted caramel syrup.
Fabbri branded Amareno Cherries container. It is a white jar with blue simplified illustrations of plants and swirls. A bottle of salted caramel flavoured Monin syrup. The bottle is see-through, showing the amber liquid, and has a label that shows a saltshaker above caramel candies and for some reason wheat.

It hurts me to say it might not be loved, but I only do so because it's one of those cult classics that never gets brought up enough. Primal on PS2 deserved so much more than it ever got.
