Imperfect Cell is really good creepy biomechanical design.

Jenny the Witch Really cool idea (witch robot suit checking for a repair crew in the New York Sewer System) that suffers from an impenetrable slog of combat rooms with pounds and pounds of health even on Easy Mode, with a confusing combat system.

The Yellow Sign (2001) & The King in Yellow (2022) Two Amateur films trying to adapt the King in Yellow (especially the vibes) but man the camera work and acting is extremely rough, and the lack of special effects do not help.

House of Leaves Pretentious! I keep hearing this is sort of a reflection on Schizophrenia and the Jewish conception of God. I should look into the latter. I dunno, something about this didn't click with me.

The Ghost in the Shell Solid, well animated, dealt with its restrictions as well as possible close adaptation for the original Ghost in the Shell manga. I should probably rewatch it. Science Saru is doing some really interesting work with animation. It's so pretty.

Mother 3 The conclusion of the Mother trilogy. This feels like the most compromised yet well thought out entry in the franchise, with probably the most fun game play. A lot of dungeons feel very 'in name only' as the game is straining against the limits of the Game Boy Advance.

The Villager of 999 This hints at the world setting being extremely fucked up beyond the normal Isekai/RPG Stats world system and rightly points out how bonkers the world is at, hinting almost at some horrifying Gnostic/Simulation theory set up. But it never reveals what is going on.

Kamen Rider Zeztz The latest Kamen Rider. Its plot being unsure for a long while if things were dreams or reality was genuinely interesting as was the nature of CODE. I feel it sort of flounders in the 4th act with the loss of CODE and the Gore Nightmares taking center stage.

Cigarette Burns (Mini-Movie) John Carpenter does a small screen film episode of Masters of Horror, in which a floundering theater owner with a talent for discovering obscure films is hired to find possibly the rarest film in the world "La Fin Absolue du Monde".

Digimon X-Evolution A decent adaptation of the concepts set up in the Digimon Chronicle toyline, it probably will bore anyone who doesn't want a somewhat philosophical exploration of the vague morality of justice and the inscrutability of God. Probably will watch again after Discotek's release.

Digimon Univese: App Monsters (Manga) The cliff notes version of Appmon. A lot of the same beats except one character doesn't turn villainous. It's. Okay! Kinda boring. Artwork is middling. Has some interesting okay ideas but I've mostly forgotten it.

Digimon Universe: App Monsters Toyetic as hell, but it does a solid amount of work trying to flesh out the five human partners, trying to give them each their own story arcs, though some had to backloaded to the final twists of the plot.

Mr. Robot This was really good even though I have quibbles. Definite recommend as modern cyberpunk and dystopian fiction. My sales pitch is Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V with good writing, with the frame work of Philip K. Dick set in a William Gibson novel.

Videodrome Long Live the New Flesh! Weirdly describes the Internet and Internet Censorship long before it became ubiquitous. And is trippy, but I'm not sure if it's trippy enough. You should watch it at least once.

The Ribbon Hero Uh, this sort of loses the Transgender implications, but instead works on the concept of the Takarazuka Revue while also commenting on how society basically consumes the future to insist on keep holding on the past just a little bit longer, trying to delay the check coming do.

The Yellow Wallpaper Creepy spiral into delusion(?) I like the fact this story apparently spooked nosy husbands and doctors into letting women not get weird turn of 20th century medical treatments that weren't helping.

The Matrix Resurrections For the fourth film of a series, that was basically made at gunpoint. And like 2 decades later. Despite that. It works? Mostly?

100

Neo Arkadia @neoarkadia.ygorganization.com · 18/08/2026

The Matrix Revolutions Did not have nearly enough content for what was basically almost 45 minutes or so of plot. On the other hand, you get the Wachowskis milking Warner Brothers to let them make a live action Dragon Ball Z fight. Basically overall it's "Things that cannot continue will not"

Neo Arkadia @neoarkadia.ygorganization.com · 04/08/2026

Earthbound The vibes from the game in terms of aesthetics and mood and music and art design are downright immaculate. The game play is slow, crusty, and kinda unfun and I think I only trucked through this using double XP to basically trivialize the grind.

The Matrix Reloaded "Yeah we got asked to make a sequel, fortunately we had enough rope to make this work and expand the 'verse without it feeling like shit." This feels like the ur distillation of the concept of a sequel.

Project Hail Mary Another movie based on an Andy Weir Novel. A scientist wakes up on a spacecraft with amnesia with no clue how he gets there. More fantastical than The Martian, it's still a feel good SCIENCE RULES movie.

Super Space Sheriff Gavan Infinity ... This seemed cheap even for Toku. Characters were okay. But, this felt sauceless and "ENDLESS INFINITE UNIVERSES" feels like a bad idea for what you're using as your establishing series for a new franchise. Is the Phase 1 System Marvel Did That Hard?

Madame La Mort by Rachild Three act play about A wealthy poet with no family can't bring himself to live and leaves his fortune to a call girl he adores. The neat thing is the entire second act is a fantasy in his dying mind as Life and Death fight for him. Worth reading.

The Matrix This is the first time I've seen the movie in a long time. I REALLY love Plato's Cave stories. Also, this movie is in NO WAY SUBTLE and no fucking shit a pair of Trans Women who probably read Neuromancer & The Invisibles and saw Dragon Ball Z & Ghost in the Shell would make this.

Everything Everywhere All At Once This didn't hit as hard as it did in 2023: x.com/NeoArkadia24... I like a lot about it still, but I think it goes on a bit too long for its own good. I also don't like the hot dog fingers. I get the purpose but it just makes me want to vanish.

Mother (Earthbound Beginnings) Okay, I respect what it's doing. Pollyanna is a fucking fantastic song. I do like that the ending eschews violence as the solution and the answer to your goal is... Sing to Giygas. Remind them of their better nature and happier times. I like that.

New Tales of the Yellow Sign The Thing in Yellow Under Twin Suns: Alternate Histories of the Yellow Sign A Season in Carcosa I think I'm a bit sick of reading things riffing on The Repairer of Reputations. I get why it's influential, but I think doing your own take is more interesting.
