Before landing here, I spent most of my career deep in Texas media at publications like Texas Monthly, Texas Highways. I grew up in Georgia, but I got a Texas tattoo before any ink for the Peach State. My friends haven't let me live it down. (4/6)

I went to Ole Miss for journalism school due to their magazine program. I thought I wanted to be in print. It was there that I feel in love with audience engagement work — and realized reporting maybe wasn't my thing, thanks to an advanced reporting class taught by a certain Salon alum. (3/6)

I was the kid on the playground hustling subscriptions for my own magazine — which I hilariously never launched. Some kids wanted to be astronauts. I wanted to be a journalist. I was the weirdo who somehow already knew what she wanted to be when she grew up. (2/6)
