Everything I program works perfectly on Firefox. Then I open Chrome and it breaks immediately. To record a simple video file on Chrome you must: - Make a useless silent audio node - Call requestFrame (which doesn't exist on Firefox) - Cross your fingers and get lucky Otherwise you get a blank video.

Another awful JavaScript design: parseInt/parseFloat can accept arrays. The arrays can be nested infinitely. parseFloat( [5, 9] ) => 5 parseFloat( [[[5]]] ) => 5 array = [] array[0] = array parseFloat( array ) => NaN Why would anyone EVER want this? Implementing it is wasteful and useless.

I just fixed some NASTY bugs, but there's more work to do. It flickers in Chrome. In Firefox, these mysterious white pixels creep in over time. How? I have no idea.

The unfortunate reality of webdev is that JavaScript is the most low-level and lightweight option (in that context). That's why I'll probably use three.js for a 3D game rather than dumping megabytes of Godot engine runtime and video/audio codecs into the browser.

Sites like battleofthebits.com are so rare and beautiful. Thousands of little widgets, badges, social features, and more. It's sad to see this site suffer from AI scraping. Pages take 3 seconds to render. It's built on PHP from 2005 which surely adds lots of overhead. It's a product of its time.

SDL in a nutshell: - Takes forever to build and link - No audio support built in, so I use minaudio instead (it's Simple and Direct) - Rendering vertices is broken, so I use OpenGL instead - The darn thing doesn't even give you OpenGL APIs At this point, SDL only makes a window and reads input. The JavaScript spec is hard to follow sometimes. Where does it define the operation `x[y]` for arrays? What happens to y? y must be an integer but I only figured this out through experimentation. Additionally, there are 5 different ways JS will convert a string to a number. Which one do I use?

Occasionally I ask myself: Should I program a SPA website? But every time I use a SPA website, loading pages takes a long time and it forgets lots of state. When I refresh my own pages, it's so smooth that it looks like nothing happens at all. The back button is instant. No flickers. So, no SPA.

Only on Linux, the "easiest system to develop software on". This is not an issue on Windows. SQLite should be able to delete a row by *waiting* for the other connections to finish. That's literally a core feature of SQLite. It's in the documentation. Why is it only working on Windows?

WIP: The "strict" NSFW filter setting is about to get stricter. Profiles containing "🔞" or "nsfw" will be hidden. I'll add the red text for transparency. Also: Empty galleries will be completely hidden so they don't waste space. This includes galleries that appear empty because of NSFW filtering.

I write 90% of the backend SQL inside a 500-line file called "query.sql". SQLC turns each statement into a corresponding Go function to execute it and it's the best SQL tool ever made. (Except the devs are neglecting an important PR so now I'm hosting a fork to compile certain SQLite3 statements)

169 artists were scanned and filtered down to just 8. That's a lot easier than opening 169 profiles yourself.
