Time to watch the anime that saved the industry

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 18/02/2025

20. Brain Powerd (1998) On one hand, this feels like Tomino at his most fed up, as if he's saying, "How many times do I have to say this?" But on the other hand, it's one of his most positive and hopeful works, this contrast makes it a fascinating watch

Time for some good ol' Tomino

19. Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade (1999) A haunting tale about a system built for beasts but perpetuated by humans, the impact wouldn’t have been as powerful if I hadn’t watched the previous movies, thematically, they form a perfect sequence of events

110

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 13/02/2025

18. Stray Dog: Kerberos Panzer Cops (1991) Honestly, this is about as perfect a follow-up to Red Spectacles as it could be, a sobered-up, contemplative piece about alienation and moving on, all presented with beautiful compositions and shots

110

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 12/02/2025

17. The Red Spectacles (1987) This is a movie you have to rewatch a few time to fully grasp it, but it sure hits close to home nowadays "I keep wondering if it's because it's people rot, the town rots as well, or because the town rots, the people rots as well."

130

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 12/02/2025

16. Zone of the Enders: Dolores, I (2001) It's a beautiful tale about the unbreakable bonds we form with people, no matter who or what they are, and I also love how it fleshed out a lot of the ZOE setting, Dolores is 100% one of my favorite characters and mecha from now on

120

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 09/02/2025

15. Zone of the Enders: 2167 Idolo (2001) An extremely well-animated setup for the first game and (I'm assuming) Dolores, this could have been feature-length to flesh some things out, but either way, I'm pretty satisfied with it

110

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 09/02/2025

14. Macross Delta the Movie: Absolute Live!!!!!! (2021) Absolute Live? More like ABSOLUTE CINEMA, this movie not only enhances the best parts of Delta but also fixes all the problems I had with it, it even made me cry, some lore bits make me hopeful for the future of Macross

100

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 09/02/2025

13. Macross Frontier: Labyrinth of Time (2021) Banger songs and great animation... man, I want more Frontier, I love these characters...

110

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 09/02/2025

12. Macross Delta the Movie: Passionate Walküre (2018) A pretty straightforward compilation movie, nothing much to say, other than thank God they ignored the triangle and stuck with what it was supposed to be from the start

100

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 09/02/2025

11. Macross Delta (2016) When it comes to the overall plot, this is by far the weakest of the series, especially regarding everything related to the antagonists, however, the core cast of characters was strong enough to keep me engaged, I'm excited for the movies

110

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 05/02/2025

Oh, is she synesthetic? That would be REALLY interesting for a Macross character!

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 05/02/2025

10. Macross FB7: Listen to my song! (2012) FICTION PEAKED WITH SHERYL SINGING FIRE BOMBER SONGS IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS

130

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 04/02/2025

9. Macross Frontier the Movie: The Wings of Farewell (2011) This movie is the perfection of everything the show was trying to do in my opinion, once again, every change was for the better Sheryl is HER

120

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 04/02/2025

8. Macross Frontier the Movie: The False Songstress (2009) Honestly, I didn't expect them to go this hard in a compilation movie, all the new animation bits are amazing, the pacing is good, and every story change is for the better

120

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 03/02/2025

7. Macross Frontier (2008) I think it could have used a few more episodes, but either way, this is another amazing entry in the franchise that stands shoulder to shoulder with all the prior entries, Sheryl is legitimately one of the best characters in the whole series

150

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 24/01/2025

THE OOMFIE METER IS OFF THE CHARTS ALREADY

6. Macross Zero (2002) This happened to my buddy Roy

150

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 23/01/2025

5. Macross Dynamite 7 (1997) I didn't expect space Moby Dick and I didn't expect the last episode to be one of the most beautiful things ever, it's different but at the same time it's still Macross 7 That Mylene subplot is a shit stain on an otherwise amazing package

130

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 23/01/2025

4. Macross 7 Encore (1995) Another 3 extras episodes and honestly I would put these in the upper echelon of Macross 7 episodes, Mylene singing "do you remember love" got me good

140

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 22/01/2025

3. Macross 7: The Galaxy Is Calling Me! (1995) It's a great extra episode for Macross 7 BUT PLEASE TELL ME THERE'S MORE EMILIA CONTENT IN THIS SERIES SHE'S GREAT I LOVE HER

120

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 22/01/2025

I DON'T KNOW WHO THIS IS YET BUT SHE'S COOL AND THE WEAPON THAT TURNS INTO A GUITAR IS EVEN COOLER

020

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 22/01/2025

2. Macross Plus Movie Edition (1995) Whenever I watch compilation movies I fear that too much will be cut, fortunately this is not the case for this one, it's basically a perfect cut of a perfect OVA, I said Plus might be one of my favorite things ever and this movie confirms it

120

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 21/01/2025

1. Macross 7 (1994) This is one of the most humane pieces of art I've ever seen, something 100% made by humans for humans, it's not for everyone but I can't help but to be moved by this absolute boundless love for life itself, I'll cherish this forever "The galaxy is singing"

150

Mylene continues to be a gold mine of good faces

010

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 26/12/2024

Her flashback design resembles her original iteration and i think that's pretty cool

030

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 25/12/2024

Let's see if this is as good as most people say it is

000

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 24/12/2024

I watched Puni Puni Poemy Hyatt with glasses 👍

010

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 24/12/2024

''Hyatt with glasses was peak so let's just make that but it's a different character cause fuck it'' 10/10 peak fiction

020

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 24/12/2024

More quack experimental anime

020

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 24/12/2024

I watched Excel Saga There's legitimately no way to review or explain this anime objectively, Excel Saga is Excel Saga and I love it!

030

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 24/12/2024

Can i say Excel Saga is mecha now?

120

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 17/12/2024

Actually I forgor this is a Capcom IP and it should take priority over anything else, make another one with better customization and a new controller with even more buttons and levers, but make sure the old one is compatible too cause fuck it

020

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 16/12/2024

Apparently there's a manga exclusive character in Excel Saga, she looks cool im going to have to hop on the manga

110

I'm building a team of blonde goons with fangs from secret organizations

130

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 12/12/2024

I would never have guessed this is a Muv-Luv design, especially a game that's supposed to be the start of a new wave, to me this looks like the design philosophy of the gatcha is going to be the default going foward, but im in my hopium era, I remain cautiously optimistic

120

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 12/12/2024

Nice argument. However, I have already portrayed myself as the level-headed Basara and you as the seething Mylene.

031

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 12/12/2024

Im so used to this voice being Ruri's that every scene with Hyatt is like being flashbanged for me

240

Nemith @nemith.bsky.social · 12/12/2024

This bit of the author appearing every episode to give the anime permission to do whatever the fuck they want is so simple but so strong at the same time, this specific episode is probably going to be peak considering the reference
