nelson @nelsonphillips.bsky.social · 03/10/2026On this day. "V8's are back" they never left. The thirst for nostalgia came as the pop began to age and global trade started to breakdown comfortable assumptions. "Moffat's new Falcon" was running carbs instead of electronic fuel injection. It was slow and loud, when it failed there was applause. 000
nelson @nelsonphillips.bsky.social · 08/09/2026I think it would also help to think of the tech this way and why the tech gave a gateway to the nerds to come back into society. The tech isn't the problem and most of it was created throw collective ownership. This isn't the ownership model that is causing the problems. 000

nelson @nelsonphillips.bsky.social · 22/08/2026TURNING LEFT. Interestingly the load ratio left to right doesn't change, but the distribution does #F1 001

nelson @nelsonphillips.bsky.social · 19/07/2026measuring the ride height, change is a less dramatic 5-6mm. Still substantial. 000
nelson @nelsonphillips.bsky.social · 18/07/2026This is an image of the Mercedes at spa in straight line mode and corner mode. The downforce compresses the car by 40mm. Also look at the angle. The wing is flexing backwards closing the endplate gap more. 160

nelson @nelsonphillips.bsky.social · 15/06/2026I don't think that the rear wing and mid wing would interact much. It may clean the air up around this corner. I don't think it will have any adverse interactions. 110
nelson @nelsonphillips.bsky.social · 12/06/2026These fwings are getting interesting fast. The underside have strakes to build rotation into the inwash caused by the wing elements. A raised leading edge is followed by a closing tunnel, increasing the pressure delta under the footplate powering these strakes. This rotation likely merges dstream 2112
nelson @nelsonphillips.bsky.social · 05/06/2026it has to do with coherence. Does the things relate to the other things. Like, is that chair just there and does it look lonely. 000
nelson @nelsonphillips.bsky.social · 14/05/2026Huh, old model in yaw. Surprises are good, but really ruins a video release timeline. 000
nelson @nelsonphillips.bsky.social · 13/05/2026just replace it with a controller What could got wrong? 130
nelson @nelsonphillips.bsky.social · 10/05/2026outwash on the old reg was substantial. Tweaked the floor fences with a compound curve and tried to shed the vortex later, which worked. All the vortex structures end up combining in the diffuser. Now how will this work in yaw??? 000
nelson @nelsonphillips.bsky.social · 08/05/2026Pretty pleased with the new model. Finding structures that I would want where I would want. Surprised how sideways the flow is behind the floors leading edge. Floor edge is really interesting. 010

nelson @nelsonphillips.bsky.social · 08/04/2026An old video from Peter Windsor filming a fw14b test run with a very young Bottas. Interesting fact that from one of the most sophisticated #F1 cars ever, the Vehicle Control Module VCM had 250kB of memory enough for 3 laps. 000

nelson @nelsonphillips.bsky.social · 28/03/2026yes, the pinching in the middle at the diffuser mouth is accelerating air. It draws air in from the side, because of the pinching in the middle. If the side is dirty from the front tyre it reduces the performance of the floor as the air does not accelerate into the floor from the side. 000
nelson @nelsonphillips.bsky.social · 28/03/2026its more, accelerating the air through the mouth and air is drawn in from the side. That is why it is so important to keep the front tyre wake away from the edge of the floor. McLaren of that year, '90 had a radiator outlet just above the floor.... yet still won the world championship. 100
