I think they are being driven by newspaper headlines.
Now is the time for Starmer to launch Leveson 2, ban any media ownership for overseas residents, stop all political donations and ban 2nd jobs for MPs. For 2027 he launches a return to the EU manifesto for next election. (I can dream)
