Nobody sees the world the way you do. Nobody ever in the history of everything that was or will be will see something exactly how you do and that unique touch is exactly why your work will never be like anything else. Never get discouraged 'because someone wrote it before'. They weren't you 💚💚💚

Existential crises are like a daily occurrence for Darien. It's the main difference between who he is now and who he was in ARR. Back then he gave zero fucks. Now he gives all the fucks and it's a problem. Or rather, he's forced to just *be*, and he's having a time of it. Why him? Why here? Why now?

Uhh, wouldn't consider me/him fashionable, but I love the Cruiser Fending/Maiming so much. I have a handful of other favorites, but I really like Cruiser. Also, the BLU fish accessories. *chef's kiss*

It was actually learning Google Docs was chewing up all my stuff that made me give up in despair. But yeah, if you're doing anything important *at all*, don't rely on gdocs anymore.

Darien's supposed to be extroverted. Unfortunately, he's played by me and I am severe introversion incarnate. So what he is... is mercurial. He has good days and bad days.

Darien has absolutely been both at different points in his life~ He's still... pretty good at being both, now that I think about it. He handles being bullied relatively well, especially if it's in his face. And he can absolutely dish what he takes. To a point.

000

NellQ @nellq.bsky.social · 19/07/2026

He has had people he talks to about those kinds of things. He doesn't have any anymore. I'm sure this will be fine.

010

NellQ @nellq.bsky.social · 18/07/2026

Depending how you look at it, Darien went through this as a child. More than once. So by the time he starts fighting like a hero, he's already come to terms with having to keep going. Losing a fight has never hurt like being stabbed in the back by someone you love does anyway.

I like to DRG up through the first time, because I generally feel better - if I get *stuck* doing any forced group things - being unimportant DPS. That's my habit, after which I rarely play DRG at all until I dust it off for the *next* expac. SCH and WAR will follow close behind. As always.

I did the thing. TBF, he didn't have inspirations, so much as a calculations. Especially since some of these are *new*, these are more "Hey, that's the boy!" characters than inspirations.

Darien Cadell Character Inspiration. includes: Jimmy Hopkins from Bully, Charles Rowland from Dead Boy detectives, Damon Salvatore from Vampire Diaries, Raymond Reddington from The Blacklist, Patrick Zweig from Challengers, Sterling Archer from Archer, Geralt of Rivia from the Witcher, and Lohen from Genshin Impact

Sigh. The 13 is the year. That's August 19th. XIV launched on August 27th. He's... changed kind of a lot, but also some of his core attitudes are still there. He's just got a metric asston of backstory he absolutely did not have back then.

Darien's kinda used to going off very little sleep, both for reasons of intentional training and a habit of staying up late with people. That said, it's not actually his preferred way to go about things. Too much sleep is usually a bad sign for him, and he gets awful turtle headaches.

Darien was born in Ala Mhigo City. He's gone back a couple times, specifically to find his old home. It's never fun for him. While he could pretend it's warm comforting nostalgia if he never got past the age of 6, everything past that is just too dark to make hanging around the place seem appealing.

Darien *had* an older sister, and they were thick as thieves, so losing her was a big deal, even bigger a deal the way she went, so... It's probably part of why he tries to keep all relationships shallow and regrets whenever he fails to do that.

010

NellQ @nellq.bsky.social · 13/03/2026

Unfortunately for Darien, that changes by the day. Sometimes, he wants you to think he's a hardass who'll kill you if you cross him. Sometimes, he wants you to know he's just goofing and trying to get by.

000

NellQ @nellq.bsky.social · 13/03/2026

I'd give Darien a... 4. He's not musically inclined, but if whatever's going on mimics combat rhythm, he can slide in and *look* competent. Like if it's push and pull with a partner, he's probably okay, but if he has to predict *dance* moves and not simple reactions? He's gonna flub it.

000

NellQ @nellq.bsky.social · 13/03/2026

Also, I knew it. Before a new expansion rolls around, something always happens to the way inventory works to clear myself a little space. Good ol' reliable SE. Excited for my armoire patch storage relief. 😁

110

NellQ @nellq.bsky.social · 13/03/2026

Socially? Darien prefers to shut up and listen until he feels comfortable, at which point, he might make an ass of himself for fun. Most other situations? Just kick the heckin' door down and scream "HELLO!?" at the top of his lungs. (And get himself locked in a time bubble for the next few hours.)
