The Cortland Street Bridge is legit my favorite place in all of Chicago. I used to live down the street from it and walking across the bridge to sit on a curb and watch them pour steel at Finkl forging was just about my favorite way to pass an evening.

Patel, month after month, has been mostly failing at his original mission to weaponize the FBI against Trump’s political enemies, but he is certainly succeeding at turning the FBI into a laughingstock, which in some ways will likely prove even more damaging to our country over the long term.

The disgrace and danger of Kash Patel

Here's the latest on the FBI director's raft of scandals—including, of course, the bestiality.

Once, I would have suspected that suggesting on page 2 of the Chicago Sun-Times that Tootsie Rolls are shat out by disturbed French poodles confined to tiny crates in a military dictatorship just might cause a stir. Clearly, we no longer live in those times. www.everygoddamnday.com/2026/09/hard...

"Mass catastrophe against due process" could have been the headline of Lauren FitzPatrick et al's story in today's Sun-Times of how our racist, cruel, government has been waging war on asylum seekers, packing the Chicago immigration bench with Okie toadies. chicago.suntimes.com/the-watchdog...

It’s now nearly impossible to get asylum in Chicago immigration court

Asylum was historically hard to obtain but since Trump returned to office, a shake-up at immigration courts in Chicago and across the country has put judges under pressure to deny asylum petitions.

Is AI really going to duplicate the human brain? Not until it can react the way Cubs slugger Sammy Sosa reminded me that today is my 2nd diabetesversary. (I was on the train when my doc told me I had crazy hi blood sugar and should go to an ER. I went to Gibson's, where Sosa came over to our table).

Chief Keef being in town reminded me that I went to bat for him in 2015, even though I — clearly — didn't think much of him. I should add that Keef seems to have matured considerably since then. One of the many advantages of not getting yourself killed. www.everygoddamnday.com/2015/07/rapm...

So what's going on with delicious, nutritious and sometimes hard-to-find Maypo Instant Maple Oatmeal?

Remember: Trump reflects America. As Tolstoy wrote: "Power is based on the conditional handing over to rulers of the sum total of the wills of the masses, and that historical figures have power only on conditions of carrying out the programs which the will of the people has tacitly agreed to."
