My teacher brother has just informed me that his primary school kids now refer to anything shit or old fashioned as "Brexit". Which has made my morning.

Sad to hear about Esther, she was a force of nature, and when @davenash.com roped her into a European election campaign as a massive coup she came out swinging. A fiercely bright broadcaster and tireless campaigner. #EstherRantzen

This is totally wrong northern rock happened a few months ago. There is a no way in hell you could have had a child and that child be old enough to be working. None. Shut up, shut up. La la la la , shut up.

Yeh I really should have said amps rather than volts. There is nothing more irritating than plugging a device in and it finding it dies or just resolutely won’t charge because it’s not getting enough juice.

I hate the way usb-c is hailed as the perfect fix but different cables handle different voltages, data and charging rates and there’s no way to visually see…

Honestly, take back control - stop feeding the machine - you put your content in the hands of companies that don't care about you when it is so insanely easy to carve out a personal space online.

I’m not sure that we need to be quite so pessimistic on that front, I’ve run a few events this year that have trialled deposit/return schemes for plastics and they were all met with curiosity and interest.

Not a good sign when drains collapse into their collars like that - used to be the kinda thing that’d get a work crew out asap - but now they seem to be everywhere. Got the opposite issue here, many grates after this summer seem to be a solid column of mud/leaves/litter, many useless as a result.

Yeah we used to have them in Sitges, they were really neat - identical to the model they have in Amsterdam but they got taken out for a different system: albeit still neat but all based above ground. I think the storm water runoff was just too much for them.

It's the same in Spain; the town has huge bins and you take your trash out to them, makes so much more sense, AND importantly encourages you to produce less as you have to physically take it out to one of the local bins, so accordingly we always made the effort to pick things with less packaging.

Yeh we're seeing a lot of that - or sidewalks so narrow you have to walk into traffic to walk around them.

I am an avid recycler, and moreso I think it's critical we massively cut down our waste... but fuck me the plague of filthy, HUGE and now numerous wheelie bins cluttering every sidewalk, turning every small front garden into a dump, is just visually depressing. There are better ways of doing this.

Watching some hacks go 360 to be against 'the elite' whilst themselves being a part of that same elite, leading the charge in countless editorials in national papers and tv broadcasts against any progress that didn't meet their purity test on any their particularly hobby-horses of the day is wild.

Call me cynical, but the Brexit reversal talk from the PM, the maybe, possibly, some day, ask your father... totally takes the spotlight off criticism or any discourse about virtually anything else that was said... and I can't help but feel that was the purpose of saying it. I'd love to be wrong.

So in the last week we've seen stories about Meta muse literally stealing data it's explicitly denied from accessing, openAI's dots which are akin to malware, more ludicrous scaremongering from companies that are going bust saying fund us or our product will end the world... Just, what. the. fuck.

And the nods at rejoining, all still feeling very carrot on a stick to woo voters away from the greens and whatever is left of the lib dems... it'd have been nice for that to be guaranteed, with work beginning NOW.

Did it? I mean there were lots of nice platitudes there, but kinda offset by the chancellor's speech that basically said, well it's more austerity just by a different name. It's like the government has just forgotten it *can and should* borrow...

I really do worry about the kids - so so many boys are being abandoned to the algorithms at a super young age and they're doing what all boys do, searching for stuff they shouldn't... and that's leading them into manosphere stuff, porn they shouldn't be seeing, and a world of far right views.

I mean not that I can see - there was some fairly serious ablation on every flight so far - the re-use cadence on these if they want to move beyond it being a flying tube of fuel and nothing else is going to be much lower than they’re saying

I do remember there being issues of warping / heat movement that made the doors stick: not sure what missions they were on, I'd have to look. Suffice to say though - opening a proper cargo bay, something astronauts could maneuver materials in and out of, it going to be a significant challenge.

That said the BBC/MetOffice have both being tracking toward one model the last few days and it's not been terrifically accurate, they were totally off about the rain in the south east, and temps today according to my weather station didn't match the forecast by almost 1.5c in Southwark.

2/2 ... it's gonna need to be a significant moving element, something that can withstand movements like the flip and catch and the violence of it's launch, so far starship still feels like a rocket tube, it doesn't feel like it's an integrated airframe like the shuttle.

Engine reliability is always going to be an issue I fear - there's a reason nasa went less and bigger, I'm sure there's getting closer to more reliability, but with a human sat on top of them, there's a whole different equation for a margin of safety. As for the door, I'm not so sure... 1/2
