The image being projected to employees and prospective employees is probably the more important one here.

It's such a sign of desperation that anyone though Hunter was going to be the chosen one for anything

Maybe 35-50% of the increase is transmission and distribution which has nothing to do w/ energy prices of any kind, but a lot to do w/ both data centers (high powered lines in the middle on nowhere) and overall growth coupled with a spike in the general price level.

For both data centers and general growth, the effects of recent inflation increases end up flowing through a lot faster as you grow, vs historical cost based on levels before recent spikes. Grid hardening OTOH is partly attributable to alts and partly to past stupidity...

Hard to analyze on a national level but since Texas is bigger than most country grids, think one can say that increases (there) are being driven by a combo of data centers, grid hardening and growth in both resi and commercial...

Main decision in markets today is how much to allocate to AI related stocks, AI disruptable stocks and AI immune stocks. Of these, good ideas in AI immune stocks are the most valuable. And shorts in AI immune stocks should be well hedged on the long side lest you die from factor rotation.

Argument can be made that they make enough money in the interim to make sense anyway, but yeah that's not the argument most were making. Also possible the HBM business is stickier/spec'd in. Anyway the people that were suggesting these deserved market multiples on earnings were silly.

I don’t think this will change anything.

I think it’s a red herring. The are obviously companies that don’t do quarterly calls. And there are euro companies that do, despite not releasing full financials. And as you know, there are some extremely well run companies that release monthly data and yet are definitely run for the long-term.

Can’t decide which is worse…one month soccer fans opining on the rules of the game or everyone’s big brain takes on AI after a 2 day drawdown. Yes thank you for your deep fundamental analysis on why you choose to cut your AI exposure after the momo stopped for two days.

A strong signal that this is very much like a secret religion is that once you have self-identified as AGI/singularity-pilled people speak entirely differently and you start hearing more grandiose views about the future.

They are billion+ countries w/ long histories. There is simply more to explore that will never make it out. But I think that is also true of Mexican food. Most people have a specific view of it whether in the US or anywhere outside of Mexico. Also I think the inventiveness in CDMX is next level.

Both can be excellent. But only Mexican has a problem traveling from an ingredient perspective. If your country doesn't make good Indian/Chinese it's a skill issue. And while I think average Indian food is still pretty great. Average Mexican food is terrible.

Mexican food is ridiculously varied, totally unique and absolutely wonderful, but you do have to visit the country for that.

The worst thing about the bubble popping (whenever that happens) is gonna be the valuboi that underperformed for two decades having their day in the sun. Going to be absolutely insufferable.

The thing about the model companies not being public yet is that it allows for a level of abstraction to "how much capacity is being built" when what really matters is "how much are OAI and Ant revenues growing". That's gonna change once they are public.

There are a lot of reputations that will either be cemented or destroyed based on how they land the plane.

The only bubble that I can come up with that had a similar religious zeal was the early land bubble associated with Manifest Destiny that culminated in the 1837 panic. A large decline in ag output prices made prior investment decision appear foolish. Hmmm.

It will be amusing if we get the bubble crash w/o public shareholder having benefitted from the bubble in the first place.

I mean the math doesn’t math otherwise. It’s the only bull case I see for this level of AI spend.

Think it’s definitely beneficial. But we’re either in a bubble or it’s about to get really destructive to the global economy and large parts of the market.

Searching @negativegw.bsky.social · 14/05/2026
Pretty clear by now that the only way the currently planned AI spend is sustainable is a massive gutting of white collar jobs. This comes w/ a host of issues the market is not pricing. No sorry just making all software free does not get you there.

You can tell a lot about the environment at the other place by paying attention to which accounts are being quiet (or have stopped posting) and which ones are louder than they have ever been.

The thing that is hard to ignore is that practically all of the growth names are tied the data center build and that is one and the same as the momo trade. And it's all tied to an empirical analysis of a historical trend line that some people believe in like a religion.

To be clear shorting a bubble before it clearly pops is a fast road to the poor house. Never do this. And when it pops is only perfectly clear from the rear view mirror. But also this one seems like it will clearly affect the economy. Gonna be a fun ride.

Since this platform is always quiet, especially w/ regard to stocks, gonna turn this into my account to document the bubble. Now just cus I'm calling it a bubble doesn't mean I think we're near the top. It's just that this only ends one way. It's also possible that this one has multiple tops.

The funny thing about memory stock is that most of the people that are playing them are not cyclicals people. The cyclicals people I get. They are just playing profit runway. It's the secular growth people that have never bought a cyclical. Those are the funny ones.

Still incredible to me that Bessembinder doesn't see the obvious...if you measure wealth by period-end market cap + historical dividends the result is that current perceived winners end up creating all the wealth. It's like doing a lot of work to say the concentration of the S&P 500 has gone up.
