Brilliant discussion with Jon Savage about the music scene in 1976. The end of the worst of times and the beginning of the best of times. (There may also be one or two references to Eddie and the Hot Rods.) #50years #EddieandTheHotRods

50 years ago, punk hadn’t yet reached the Midlands. But the Feelgoods had. On this day in 1976, the young rebel souls were crushed together at the front of Birmingham Odeon bouncing to the mighty Dr Feelgood. #50years #DrFeelgood #Stupidity

50 years ago, we pinned our hopes on a tricky winger to deliver us promotion from Division 2. I’ve written about the legend of Terry Curran for Oh Mist Rolling On this month. (Warning: may also include references to Eddie and the Hot Rods.)

Wonderful day in the big smoke yesterday, meeting up with wayward daughter: sightseeing, culture, album cover art … and an excellent lunch with Alice B (courtesy wayward d). #banksy #hepworth #escher #toklas

The Banksy statue, Waterloo Place, London. It shows a man carrying a flag which obscures his vision.

Eidos sculpture by Barbara Hepworth (at the Courtauld). Oval stone, partially hollowed out, the inner hollow painted yellow.

M.C. Escher, Bond of Union (two faces - probably Escher and his wife - as a pair of entwined ribbons). This image later repackaged as the cover of Ian Hunter's 1st solo album.

Lunch at Toklas restaurant, Temple, London.
