15 years in a row! Nebraska Medical Center is again the best hospital in Nebraska according to U.S. News & World Report. And our cancer and gastroenterology and GI surgery programs both earned national rankings, placing them in the top 50 nationally.

Levels three through five, except for Dentistry, at the Durham Outpatient Center remain closed for the time being, as work continues after a water leak last week. Clinic staff are working to find alternative clinic locations and are contacting patients directly to reschedule appointments.

A water line break is affecting patient appointments taking place this morning in the Durham Outpatient Center. Patients with appointments in the building will receive calls to reschedule. Crews are on site to assess and repair the damage. The Emergency Department remains open.

Our Heart & Vascular team is getting the word out early about heart health! They visited local daycares and Montessori schools during Heart Month teaching kids about heart healthy activities. The kids then colored pictures for our patients in the CVICU. A lot of ❤️ on both sides!

Dale Steele had some amazing accomplishments during his century on earth. Perhaps none more amazing than becoming the oldest organ donor in U.S. history at the age of 100. His liver was recovered at Nebraska Medical Center and successfully transplanted a day later. Learn more: bit.ly/3ONkDS7

Another first! Our Heart & Vascular team recently completed the 1st renal denervation procedure in Omaha—Laura Ramirez was the 1st patient. The Medtronic Symplicity procedure helps reduce high blood pressure, targeting nerves near the kidneys. Congrats to Laura and our ❤️ team!

These 13 women were the 1st grads of our Workforce Readiness Program. They met twice a week for three weeks to prepare to earn their CNA certification and step into an entry-level role at a Nebraska Medicine facility—their 1st step toward a potential nursing career! Congrats!
