This year, we have started to see the harmful impacts of H.R. 1 (the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act”) signed into law last summer. As of July 2026, over 32,000 Nebraskans are no longer participating in SNAP. ‼️CHILDREN make up HALF of those Nebraskans who have lost access.

We filed to intervene in the case to defend the Lincoln For Fair Housing ordinance and argued against the plaintiffs’ motion for a preliminary injunction today. The judge denied the motion, ensuring that source-of-income protections remain in place while this case is pending.

Last year, 66% of Lincoln voters agreed to ban housing discrimination based on a renter or buyer‘s source of income. Only a few months later, a group of landlords filed a lawsuit to challenge this voter-approved law.

These funds would come on top of an unprecedented $170 billion allocated just last year to dramatically expand ICE operations, which has funded mass detentions and shocking violence against people, substantially destabilized communities, and harmed working moms, dads, and neighbors.

The House took a deeply worrisome step by passing a resolution allowing Congress to start a budget reconciliation process to provide an additional $70B or more to ICE & CBP for 3 years. This allows Congress to bypass the normal budget process & approve legislation w/ a simple majority vote.
