when I was younger I had a friend with whom - whenever one of us wanted to respond to something in the positive, we’d say ‘but of course’, except it eventually morphed into ‘butt off course’, and then ‘errant ass’ until eventually we’d just say ‘errant’ as shorthand for yes or OK. language is funny
