Top marks for whoever made the Farage banner! #NorwichPride
A close up of the picture of the crowds at Norwich Pride from the previous post. This photo has zoomed in to show a banner that someone is holding aloft. On the banner are the words "Farage is a smelly Fascist"

My heatpump controller concurred with this. The outside temperature on the screen shows that it was indeed bloody hot on Friday. 🥵
A photo of the screen on a Stiebel Eltron Heatpump controller. The screen shows an outside temperature of 37.8°C at 14:35 on Friday 26th June 2026.

The screen also shows that my Solar PV Diverter has heated up my hot water tank to a toasty 65.3°C, which was all done for free with home-made electricity 😊

Maybe @markhamillofficial.bsky.social and Yoda can help to clean up the Reflecting Pool?

Hey @edp24.bsky.social, just in case you didn't know, they're called Broads.

And that's a wrap! 51 pubs across Norwich spread over 8 trails, all done twice with dozens of miles walked. Its been a blast. 😁🍻 Rounding it all off with a fantastic pint of Humpty Dumpty's Farrier in the Vine. A perfect way to finish this year's City of Ale Trails.

Enjoying the penultimate pint on my second lap of the 2026 City of Ale trails around our fine city of Norwich. In the beer garden of the Coach & Horses (Bethel Street) and Heritage Hare, a delicious 1960's style limited edition brew from @moongazerale.bsky.social is going down wonderfully!

Just ticked off my 15th trail of the 2026 Norwich City of Ale festival. Enjoying the Norwich Bitter at the Fat Cat and Canary as you do. Just three more pubs to go to finish this second lap.

Halfway through my second lap of this years Norwich City of Ale trails. Sadly the Lamb Inn are not doing @moongazerale.bsky.social Jumper any justice at all. Normally a fantastic ale and definitely one of my favourites, but it seems it's so poorly kept here. (Must admit I'm not surprised...)

Oh no, it's happening again. Please send help...!
My second Norwich City of Ale festival booklet for this year's trails, showing the partially completed stamp sheet.
Alongside the booklet is a pint of Beeston's Strider, a delicious Norfolk made Ruby ale that's going down a treat.

So it seemed rude not to pop into the Murderers on the way back to the station. City of Ale 2026 lap two..? 😂🤪🍻

That's a wrap for City of Ale 2026. Celebrating in another of my favourite pubs, the Beehive with Green Jack's Lurcher Stout. Find me a better stout, I'll wait. Behind my usual schedule, but after dad's fall the other day I wasn't sure I'd even get a chance to finish the trails, so will take that. 🍻

At least it was downhill this time to the small but perfectly formed Hop Rocket. Having what turns out to be one of my favourite ales from this year's City of Ale Trails, the Oatmeal Stout from Tartarus Beers, a new brewery for me and a great example of this ale style. 50 pubs done, one to go!

I must be feeling the heat and/or getting on a bit as the calves felt the walk up Warwick Street to the Warwick Arms. Rehydrating with Sir Hare from @moongazerale.bsky.social. It has a lovely fruity biscuity flavour. Marvellous! 49 City of Ale pubs done, almost into the home straight with 2 to go

Round to the brilliant Garden House where they always have plenty of ales and ciders on gravity. Always love coming here. Went for Castle Rock's Black Gold. Perfectly kept and very drinkable, even in this heat. 48th City of Ale pub ticked off, three to go...

Onto Earlham Road and the Black Horse. Went for Dark Star Brewing's Hophead, which is in fantastic condition. Not bad for a predominantly food based pub. 47 pubs done, 4 to go...

Onto my last Norwich City of Ale trail, the Morgans Brewery trail. Couldn't make my usual walking pace here in this heat, but glad to get to the Georgian Townhouse where the air-conditioning is heaven sent! Giving Youngs London Original a try. It's light and balanced, just as it says on the clip.

That's the 7th trail finished at the Fat Cat and Canary. Celebrating with Oakham's Inferno. 45 City of Ale pubs done, one trail of six pubs to go.

Just got out on the Norwich City of Ale trails. Short walk up Thorpe Road from Norwich Station to the Coach and Horses. Needed something light to start with so chose Tap from their in house Chalk Hill Brewery. Not too strong but full of lovely malt flavour. 44 pubs done, 7 to go.

Up Gas Hill and down St Leonard's Road to another favourite Norwich pub (anyone would be forgiven for thinking they're all my favourite). Into the Jubilee and S&P's Blackberry Porter. Lovely stuff.

Over the river to arguably my favourite Norwich pub, the beautiful Lollards Pit and Oscar Wilde from Mighty Oak Brewery. In perfect condition as you'd expect here.

Needed the 37 minute walk to the Red Lion, Bishopgate. Ready for one of my old favourites, Humpty Dumpty Brewery's Swallowtail. Delightful!

Got my 6th pin badge on this year's Norwich City of Ale trails at the Woodman in Old Catton. Always love having an ale here as its where my late mum and my dad had their wedding reception in 1966. Must get the old photos dug out when dad gets out of hospital. Having another Moongazer Heritage Hare

Just done the long walk up Sprowston Road to a legendary pub on Norwich's live music scene, albeit not a pub I'd usually wander up to. The Brickmakers. @moongazerale.bsky.social's Heritage Hare is in great condition and hitting the spot. One more pub to go on this trail...

Up to what is arguably Norwich's least picturesque drinking establishment, the Brewey Tap. Good job the ales are always far better than the exterior aesthetics. Went for Three Blind Mice's Double Trouble. Hazier than I'd normally go for but tasty none the less.

Around the corner to another favourite of mine, the small but perfectly formed Malt and Mardle. My first time here since Elliot passed the baton on, but pleased to say it still looks and feels pretty much the same. Opted for Mighty Oak's Jake the Snake. It's in cracking condition & going down well!

A short walk up Bull Close to the Leopard. Went for Mr Winters Chin on Bar which is perfectly enjoyable, but thinking I should have gone for All Day Brewing's oatmeal stout Devil Moon. Must have that when I next come across it!

Onto the S&P trail and another pub I really like, the Plasterers Arms, where All Day Brewing's Short Wheel Base is suitably refreshing. Love the (slightly wonky) pump clip for this one!

Round the corner to one of my favourite Norwich pubs and claiming my next City of Ale pin badge at the Golden Star. Celebrating with Barsham Brewery's Pilgrims Pale.

A quick walk through the alley to the Weavers Arms. Did my bit for Cit of Ale PR here and got a group of people onto the trails after they saw me collecting my stamp. Fat Cat's Norwich bitter going down a treat!

Keith A @ncfckeith.bsky.social · 24/05/2026
Although with all the walking I'm doing around Norwich on the City of Ale trails, maybe this one from Beeston Brewery would have been more apt.

A longer walk this time, past the remnants of Anglia Square and into Magdalen Street's Kings Head. What better way to quench the thirst than a Vanilla Latte from Mr Winters. Heaven in a glass and in perfect condition as you'd expect here.

Next stop is the legendary Duke of Wellington. Rude not to have something from Wolf Brewery when I'm here so went for the refreshing Edith Cavell. It's hitting the spot.

Keith A @ncfckeith.bsky.social · 24/05/2026
A short but rather hot stroll round the corner to the Roseberry. Never too hot for a dark beer so went for Grain Brewery's Blackwood. Always enjoy this ale and tasting as good as ever today

Offending my own OCD even further by doing another pub out of order on this trail. Stopping off at the absolutely rammed Whalebone, music and all sorts of malarkey going on here today! Definitely the place to be!! Standing room only for my Good Old Hares from @moongazerale.bsky.social

Back onto the Norwich City of Ale trails this afternoon. Starting mid point on the Star Brewery trail to work around the opening hours at Sir Toby's in St Saviour's Yard. Supping Ampersand's Camphillsner. The print on the cup makes it look like the beer is a funny colour!

A short walk to the Trafford Arms. Wrapping up the St Stephens trail and claiming the pin badge with a Black Hole from the marvellous Tindall's Ales. An Irish Stout, made in Norfolk, that's far better than the famous Irish Stout that's made in Ireland!

Over the road to the fantastic Kings Arms. Would be rude not to have a Bateman's XB while I'm here. It seems my reputation precedes me, they were surprised I was playing catchup on the City of Ale trails when I'm normally done by now! 😂
