Today the LIGO/Virgo/KAGRA Collaborations released our fifth catalogue of Gravitational Wave Transients. This is extra exciting for us here at @unlv.edu as the flagship publication (dcc.ligo.org/LIGO-P260015...) was led by Leo Tsukada, a postdoctoral research fellow at the @ncfa.bsky.social.

Study: Pair of Distinct Black Hole Mergers Reveals Clues on How They Form and Evolve
The mergers, measured one month apart in 2024 by LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA collaboration, advance scientific understanding of the nature of black hole formation and fundamental physics; offer evidence of "seco...

GW231109_235456: A Sub-threshold Binary Neutron Star Merger in the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA O4a Observing Run?
We present a sub-threshold search for gravitational-wave inspirals from binary neutron stars using data from the first part of the fourth observing run of the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA Collaboration. To enhanc...

Hubble constant constraint using 117 FRBs with a more accurate probability density function for ${\rm DM}_{\rm diff}$
Fast radio bursts (FRBs) are among the most mysterious astronomical transients. Due to their short durations and cosmological distances, their dispersion measure (DM) - redshift ($z$) relation is usef...
