Teaching Calc II for the first time in a few years next semester. Looking over notes I left for myself on suggested revisions. I appreciate this one quite a bit: Students hate the drug concentration problem. Keep it!

AI Overview (from Google): 300 words is approximately one page, single-spaced, or about one-third of a page, double-spaced, depending on formatting and font size. Written out, it takes about two minutes to speak at an average pace.

DSM to ORD was delayed, so I'd miss my 6pm to DAY. Got booked on an 8pm ORD to DAY, which was canceled 15 minutes later. Booked for next day 8am to DAY. That was canceled shortly after I got to ORD and then booked a 6pm next day. An agent this morning got me on an 11am that wasn't an option before.

Doing mandatory grant training through Workday. Any purchase under $10,000 is a "micro purchase" and a "small purchase" is between $10,000 and $250,000. Considering the size of my grant, I don't think most of this presentation applies to me.

Book #14 of 2025: Breakfast of Champions by Kurt Vonnegut. Probably my third or fourth read of this book. I need to make a more regular habit of getting to the Granfalloon in Bloomington every year. Last time I went I caught a fantastic concert by the Flaming Lips.

What I think every time I see one of these "Cracker Barrel is woke" posts
Book cover made to look like classic children's book. Title is "Everything I don't like is WOKE: A book for basic dickheads." Cover shows a boy pointing to the engine of a car saying "This engine is woke."

Trying to understand a theorem led me back to one of my favorite bits of math writing. There are two ways to compose paths in a quiver and my confusion traced back to the fact that the authors were using function notation. #mathsky
Screenshot of text. The relevant part is "Note we are using the convention that pq means p then q; be aware that some savage barbarians use the opposite convention." There is a footnote marker by "savage barbarians."
