Early signs and symptoms of Fall 🍁 (5/6 & 6/6 in comments) #forestfriday #photography #sunshine #magical #light #autumn #fall #trail My last two photos this week are the same spot but slightly different, and I couldn't choose. Which one do you like better? ✨️💫

Sun rays across a trail light up the leaves on the edges, turning everything golden. A puff of mist from the edge of the trail crosses the rays in the light.

Early signs and symptoms of Fall 🍁 (3/6) #autumn #fall #photography #Moody #foggy #forest Early colors in the fog. 😍 I like the bit of lean to the left on all the trees, reaching toward the light of the opening over the I&M canal.

Trees with early autumn color lean left along a trail covered in orange leaves. Foggy, moody atmosphere.

Early signs and symptoms of Fall 🍁 (1/6) #photography #trail #autumn #fog I love fog. I love the softness and depth it can add to pictures, but I also just love walking in it. This wasn't a thick fog, but was blowing in little clouds from the canal, like ghosts crossing the trail ahead.

A little cloud of fog crosses the trail ahead. Trail lined with trees, some with fall colors beginning to show.

Happy Friday! ✨️ Thank you so much for all the likes and reposts of my photos this week. I'm so excited as the leaves begin to turn - it's my favorite time of year! 🍂 Here's one last photo from last weekend, it was a truly beautiful couple of days! #photography #spookyseason #autumn #fog #moody

A thick fog hovers over a valley, with goldenrod blooming in foreground. Bare trees glow in morning light.

Into October 🍂 #photography #nature #trail #sunlight #autumn #fall I waited at the start of this trail as the sun started shining through the trees, hoping for light rays. As I was photographing this spot the glowing leaves looked almost like fireflies as they moved in the slight breeze. ✨️💛

Orange leaves line a trail through a tunnel of trees. Morning sunlight from the right lights up leaves here and there.

Under the Harvest Moon. #autumn #fall #foggy #sunrise #photography The moon was really cool when it got low in the sky, it seemed so big! Unfortunately none of my pics of the big moon looked as pretty as this one, so 🤷‍♀️. I snuck a few feet onto this golf course for this one. 💕

Happy Friday! One more from a previous Autumn walk at Starved Rock. 🍁 I'm looking forward to fall colors, and it's so fun to revisit some of the best walks I've taken in the last couple years. #Autumn #fallcolor #photography #starvedrock #illinois

As I was running around the woods looking for butterflies, the sun was rising and hitting the edges of the prairie in this orangey-golden light, making it look like autumn behind this crooked tree. A preview. 👀🍁 #photography #goldenhour #midewinnationaltallgrassprairie

One more from the Monarch Migration 🧡 It's such a magical thing to see. It's been 5 years since the last time I got to see them go through Midewin, and I kinda thought I'd never see it again. ✨️ #photography #monarchmigration #monarchs #butterflies #midewinnationaltallgrassprairie

Monarch Migration 2026 🦋 #photography #nature #butterflies #monarchs #monarchmigration #midewinnationaltallgrassprairie Heaven on earth might be a small woods filled with hundreds of monarchs floating through the trees all through the canopy. I had it to myself too. 🥰

I've had this heavy, sobby feeling the last few weeks that I've had trouble identifying or articulating. I watched Don't Look Up (again) and when he says "We really did have everything, didn't we?"... (cont'd) #photography #sunrise #nature

Phone pic from this morning at Midewin 🌼 it's mostly coreopsis & boneset blooming rn. Very pretty, I'm a little sad this summer is ending. It's been a good one.
