When we build trail structures like check steps, turnpike, or puncheon, we try to limit the amount of introduced material into the environment. Once our trails team is out on site, we scout for any fallen trees or branches that could be repurposed to help formalize a trail. ♻️👷

What a difference 2 years make! Check out the growth of these trees in Kissena Park, Queens! 🌱➡️🌳 NAC staff planted saplings with NYC Parks and volunteers in 2024, and now in 2026 they're flourishing. If this is the outcome after just 2 years, imagine the growth in a decade!

We had such a fun corporate volunteer day at NYC Parks Plant Ecology Center and Nursery (PECAN)! Volunteers supported the nursery’s operations by planting seedlings and germinated acorns, which will eventually grow to be trees lining the streets of NYC! 🌱 www.youtube.com/shorts/Aum_j...
