United Utilities, your advert is pointless. It's not like we can get our water off anyone else so what's the point of advertising. Wasting the money we pay you on really annoying adverts! How about you spend it on fixing leaks then we wouldn't need to save water. It's not like it never rains here.🤨

Wisdom of the Crowd eh? Having watched 10 minutes I'd say that's a bit of a contradiction in terms. What absolute bloody rubbish. 🙄🙄

What a stunningly gorgeous day it's been for October. A bit worn out now. 11,400 steps. I walked to Aldi, just over a mile and a half, then walked just under half way back then took the pooch out. Fish and chips and mushy peas for tea and some parkin for afters from Asda bakery. 😴

And lastly (for today) from the deep archives of the top drawer this manual. This was bought in I think 1982/3 maybe, from Morrisons of all places when there weren't many of them around. It had the Donkey Kong game with it amongst others.
A paper manual for a TV video games console from way back in 1982. CBS Coleco Vision.

I also found this in the junk drawer. A letter from the DHSS (now DWP) announcing the presentation of a giro payment for maternity grant to the grand sum of £25.00. Don't spend it all at once. Generous to a fault. 🤨

Still emptying *that* drawer. Found a receipt from Norweb. Remember them? Aka the electricity board showroom. Dated 1987 for a Hoover washing machine. £319.92. I don't think they're much more than that now are they? (The washer is no longer with us).

A book for fellow #insomniacs. Struggling with sleep? This book is full of info on what you can do to help yourself with this annoying problem, as well as what really doesn't help. A fascinating book. #booksky #nonfiction #sleep

I don't like to speak too soon, but over a week of good sleeps! 22 Sept was the last bad night at just over 2 hours. Have I cracked it? Finally got a decent sleep routine going on? I do hope so. 🙏 Sleep book review posting later, (though that book didn't actually work for me).

Fireworks going off like bombs. Dog now beside himself. Bloody morons. Teenagers letting them off randomly because they've nothing better to do with their sad lives. And corner shop owners selling the bloody things.

I'm decluttering a "dump" drawer. A shove it in't drawer" drawer and forget. There's some bloody prehistoric stuff surfacing now I'm getting near the bottom. So I found a receipt for the bridesmaids dresses from my wedding in 1982. I'm chucking it. My husband regretfully "whatever you think". 🙄

Wow, it's 18 degrees outside this morning at 7.00am and 19.5 degrees in the bedroom. Amazing, more of this please. Sadly a bit murky and dark grey outside but, you can't have it all. The warm will do me just fine. 😊

And while we're on the subject of keeping our likes to ourselves how about TV dedicates the one channel solely to football and stop scrapping TV programmes other people like to replace it with utter boredom for those of us who are sick of the sight of a bloody football pitch. 🤨😡

Look at this teddy bear my sister had made for my mum. It's made from some of the huge collection of ties my dad acquired over many years. He always wore a shirt and tie and jacket. No sweatshirts or tee shirts for him ever. 🥰
A patchwork teddy made from neck ties. The back of the bear. Pink swirly pattern, gold silk, brown with small duck motifs, multicoloured stripe etc.

Back home now to everything that is wrong with home. So I'll share this pic that my husband took last evening. It had been a very grey day all day. Then suddenly the sun popped out about 6.00pm and immediately began to set. ❤️ #sunset can't see them here for houses and trees and stuff in the way.
Sun setting on the horizon over the sea, with sand dunes and beach in the foreground.

This is my view out of the MH window this evening and whilst there are admittedly better views, it certainly beats staring out at those scabbing trees across the road from us at home. I HATE them!
Car park with footpath in the distance and the beach behind us. (In real life everything in the background is much closer)A window completely obliterated by trees right across it.That high now, they infiltrate my bedroom window. And we're quite a lot of feet higher than the house across the road where this 'forest' exists.

I'd be as fit as a flea and live to be 100 if we moved to St Anne's. I've done 11,480 steps yesterday, 10,636 today and with it being extremely bike friendly too and haven't seen a drop of rain since before I got up this morning despite it being a dreary sky. 🥰

And look what else I found this morning. George Formby's house.
A blue plaque from Lytham St Annes Civic Society on the gatepost of a large house. George Formby bought the housein 1953 and lived there until he died in 1961 aged 56.

So below by day. Perhaps a little tacky after all, though it does look quite good at night. Out of sight and behind those gates is more, mostly on a creepy clown theme.
A double fronted house with two balconies decorated with red drapes like a stage and gold coloured skeletons in various positions on the balconies. A huge clowns face peeping over the entrance doorway which has also been decorated.

Oh wow. Just been on a walk in the dark with the dog at StAnnes. There are some very posh houses along the sea front there. Someone who has huge balconies with glass patio doors has dressed their whole front for Halloween. Proper skeletons, red drapes like a stage.....

Aww we've got some horses coming out in a minute from the Lancashire Constabulary Mounted Branch. They've been waiting a good hour to come out of the horse box. There's been a lot of foot stamping going on in there. Don't know if they're going on the beach or what.

Well it's 11.00pm and after that 7 hour sleep last night I'm not remotely tired despite a brisk 30 minute walk this morning and a serious much needed hoovering of the bedroom including de-cobwebbing and dust bunny extraction from every nook and cranny. My knees are broke but still wide awake. 👀

Joke of the day from the Met Office for our locality. "Largely dry with increasing sunny spells today. Any patchy cloud will gradually clear to leave a bright and fresh day with strong winds. A few showers" It's literally chucked* it down all morning. (*polite description)

About the book England, 1979. Vincent, Lawrence and William are the last remaining residents of a secluded New Forest home, part of the government's Sycamore Scheme. Every day, the triplets do their chores, play their games and take their medicine, under the watchful eyes of three mothers: Mother Morning, Mother Afternoon and Mother Night. We have a collective name for all the seasons here where I live. Autumn, winter, spring, early summer - it's called rain! Every single day for the past two weeks at least, it has rained multiple times a day. It has spread its dull grey misery all around. Clear blue sky an hour ago - GONE. 😡

The Wish Trip List by Kerry Lonsdale and Orly Konig is a moving story following two former friends as they take an epic trip together at the request of another friend who had died. Holly, Anna and Zoe had been the closest of friends, and in their twenties went on some amazing holidays together. Now Zoe has passed away and Holly and Anna haven't spoken in five years, since something happened on their trip to Greece.
