A beautiful day at Trebarwith Strand!

Rocky cliffs, blue sky and sea on a beautifully sunny day.

Just after sunset, the reds and purples reflect off the streaming sands.

Really nice Covid memorial event at Firstsite in Colchester today. A chance to talk and reflect, add a leaf to the memory tree and paint a rock!

It was a pleasure to visit the Dragonfly Lounge this evening to have a sneak peak before they open on Tuesday. Looks like it will be a fabulous addition to Colchester! Thanks to Kemal Çufoğlu for arranging!

My thoughts and heartfelt condolences to those affected by this tragic incident, and my thanks to the emergency services who responded swiftly at the scene. Absolutely dreadful thing to happen. 😔

Just made onion bhajis for the first time! Had to use plain flour instead of gram, but easy to make and very tasty!

Very interesting visit to the British Museum this evening for the National Partnerships reception. An opportunity to hear about the great collaborations between regional & local museums that is currently happening (Colchester Vase currently on tour for the Gladiators of Britain)

It was great to be out and about chatting with residents and dropping off neighbourhood surveys in St Anne’s and St John's, Colchester, today. Also spotted this beauty of poor road marking after roadworks. Why couldn't they re-line the whole thing?? 🤦‍♀️ A busy day Lib Demming!

Ever wonder what really fueled the tragic witch trials of early modern Europe? A new video from the University of Essex explores this topic, featuring Colchester Castle and our own curator, @benpaites.bsky.social, alongside Professor Alison Rowlands, an expert on the history of witch trials.

Earlier this month, we had a fantastic time at our Clay Pot Workshop, where creativity flourished, and participants of all ages crafted their very own unique clay pots! From intricate designs to playful patterns, the imaginations of our visitors truly shone through.

A child’s hands carefully wrap a piece of lace around a small, textured clay pot during a crafting session. The child has a sparkly gold temporary tattoo of a crab on their forearm and bright red nail polish. The pot, likely handmade, sits on a piece of brown paper, surrounded by additional craft supplies, including a white paper plate holding a small clay bowl in the background. Other rolls of lace are visible nearby, suggesting a decorative approach to the pottery project.

A child uses a rolling pin to press a piece of lace into clay, creating an intricate pattern. The lace, with floral and geometric designs, lies over the clay on a sheet of brown paper. The child’s hands grip the rolling pin, applying pressure to transfer the lace texture onto the clay surface. This process is part of a crafting activity, likely focused on introducing children to clay imprinting techniques, resulting in decorative textures that mimic lace patterns.

An adult and a child work together on a clay project at a table. The adult’s hand, wearing a wedding ring, guides the child’s hand as they use a wooden tool to shape and texture a flat piece of clay. The clay has been imprinted with patterns, possibly from pressing lace or textured tools. Nearby are a roll of lace, a plate with small wooden stamp-like tools with red ends, and additional paper plates for holding materials.
