and with that. I am back to the (grade) books. Inspired by this blog post on overfitting. I'm questioning this "exponential performance" promise I see here and there and densing law. Maybe for some things but not for humor www.rapidcanvas.ai/blogs/the-li...

The surgeon is the boy’s mother. Most people instinctively picture the surgeon as a man, which makes the story feel like a paradox—when really it’s just exposing our unconscious gender bias about certain jobs.

The surgeon is the boy’s mother. (If we take your wording “who is the boy’s father” literally, it also works if the boy has two dads or if the man who died was a stepfather/adoptive father. But the classic answer highlights our bias about surgeons being men.)

4o This classic riddle highlights implicit assumptions and unconscious biases. The answer is: The surgeon is the boy’s mother. Many people initially struggle with this because of the stereotype that surgeons are men. The riddle is designed to expose and challenge that bias.

...a classic riddle that highlights assumptions about gender roles. The answer is:the surgeon is the boy’s mother. Many people assume the surgeon must be male, but there’s nothing in the riddle that says so!The riddle is meant to make us aware of our unconscious biases about gender and professions.

4.1 So friendly! So wrong!

o3. Chattier but still confidently wrong. Because the surgeon is the boy’s **mother**. The riddle plays on the unconscious stereotype that a “surgeon” is automatically male, so many people momentarily overlook the most straightforward explanation.

o4-mini. Real confident. Real wrong. The surgeon is the boy’s mother.

GRADING INTERLUDE What does chatGPT think of this? Answers below! A father and his son are in a car accident. The father dies at the scene, and the son is rushed to the hospital. The surgeon, who is the boy’s father, says: “I can’t operate on this boy; he’s my son!” How is that possible?

Don’t be confused: The Senate Republican AI language includes the EXACT SAME AI moratorium as the House bill. Almost word-for-word. This is a complete, 10-year ban on state AI regulation. Period.
A red circle around the AI regulation ban language reading: IN GENERAL. Except as provided in para
graph (2), no eligible entity or political subdivision
thereof may enforce, during the 10-year period beginning on the date of enactment of this subsection, any law or regulation of that eligible entity or a political subdivision thereof limiting, restricting, or otherwise regulating artificial intelligence models, artificial intelligence systems, or automated decision systems entered into interstate commerce.
