2 things I’ve noticed wildly impressive about the Cubs this series: they work counts so well and they are insanely good defensively. 2 stats team-wise that don’t necessarily cost a ton of free agency money and make a ton of difference in game. Coaching and development make a big difference.

I think the frustrating thing here is that the crop of teams in front of the Nats with the exception of the Phils and Cubs is just not that much better than they are, if at all. They were never going to win the whole thing, but if they had snuck in, I’d be nervous to play them in a 3 game series.

I genuinely think trading Griffin is a mistake. I truly believe the position is/has been so volatile, especially for the Nats, that I would’ve taken the chance on signing him. Maybe they tried and it is what it is, but idk.
