Minneapolitan - over here in NE. I like art, politics, books and TV. Those are the things you'll find me posting about. 📺🎨📖 Old woman. Possibly damp. Faster than an old woman should be.

Minneapolis! My art is (mostly) installed at Spring Street Tavern in NE Mpls! Go for the awesome burgers, leave with an original painting made by a real human - no AI! This is my painting "The Treachery of Birds" and it will be hanging there as of tomorrow night. I also have prints available!
A painting of a gray duck on a cream background, with the words "Ceci n'est pas une goose" written below in black script. It's 11x14 and hangs in a black frame above a fireplace. A plant is shown next to it for scale A painting of a gray duck on a cream background, with the words "Ceci n'est pas une goose" written below in black script.

I actually has to take several looks with the brightness turned up before I realized that it's a hand holding those Converse shoes. When I first saw it, I thought it looked like exactly what people are saying it looks like. Shameful.

Look at the gorgeous bouquet I got at the NE Farmer's Market! You guys, it was only TWELVE DOLLARS, and it came arranged like this - I didn't do a thing. Support your local Farmers Markets!
A stunning bouquet of yellow and fuchsia snapdragons, peachy-pink and yellow dahlias, and deep red cockcomb flower in a white vase.

This—from an Angie Craig ad on Facebook—is the most deranged way to present that data imaginable. A. It’s sorted by the date the poll was published, rather than the end date of the poll. Craig being within three is in fact the second-oldest poll but shown as the newest.
A…chart? Sure, we’ll call it that. It’s suggesting that there’s a steady increase in support for Angie Craig. The first poll is from over a year ago. The other three are all from January of this year, though they’re dated from the date they were published rather than the date of the actual data collection. The source for the data, showing, from oldest to newest (unlike how Craig presented it):

Highly encourage everyone to read the book it's based on (Shoeless Joe by W.P. Kinsella) if you haven't already. It's a beautiful book.
"I swear the stars have moved in close enough to eavesdrop as I sit in this single rickety bleacher that I built with my unskilled hands, look- ing down at Shoeless Joe Jackson. A breath of clover travels on the sum- mer wind. Behind me, just yards away, brook water splashes softly in the darkness, a frog shrills, fireflies...""...dazzle the night like red pepper. A petal falls.

"God what an outfield," he says. "What a left field." He looks up at me and I look down at him. "This must be heaven," he says.

"No. It's Iowa," I reply automat- ically. But then I feel the night rubbing softly against my face like cherry blossoms; look at the sleep- ing girl-child in my arms, her small hand curled around one of my fin- gers; think of the fierce warmth of the woman waiting for me in the house; inhale the fresh-cut grass smell that seems locked in the air like permanent incense; and listen to the drone of the crowd, as below me Shoeless Joe Jackson tenses, watching the angle of the distant bat for a clue as to where the ball will be hit.

"I think you're right, Joe," I say, but softly enough not to disturb his concentration."

As anyone in publishing will tell you, women do not resist reading books by men, but men will often dismiss books by women. This is not a publishing problem or a failure to target men. It's a misogyny problem.

As violent crime in America falls, especially in urban areas of the Northeast and Midwest, homicides perpetrated by police officers skyrocket and American police establish themselves as the most violent part of US society. It seems to be a function of the legal doctrine of impunity.
