In addition to coke, the other tell tales that nailed me - a guy who's lived in NYC for 30 years - as an Alabamian were roly poly and, who would've thunk it, the way I pronounce lawyer.

I live in his district and he definitely has the ear of the small group of elderly cranks who are still vocally fuming over congestion pricing and don't like younger people enjoying themselves in public at restaurants and in open streets.

Funny! When I was a freshman at VU in 90-91 there was another freshman who had long hair and a beard and went everywhere barefoot and was known around campus as Jesus. But I never saw him again after that year. Maybe he took some time off and had a second coming to DJ?

I did something similar with an Elm in Central Park. From 2017 to 2024 when it was sadly cut down due to Dutch Elm disease, I took a photograph every time I walked past it. This started after dropping my child off at kindergarten after a long commute and then walking through the park to the subway.

I'm sad to hear that. I had a full year with him in his Enlightenment and French Revolution classes and he was on my oral exam committee. He was a challenging, rigorous professor and I got a lot out of his classes.

The Batman tv show is 60. Adam West should have got an Emmy for this scene alone. I love DeNiro, Washington, Day-Lewis etc but none of them have had an acting challenge like this. youtu.be/tgCkmUS1IYI?...

When I was in high school in B'ham at the end of the 80s, I saw the Cramps, Ramones, and Replacements play shows at Sloss Furnace. Besides continuing to host cultural programs, Sloss has a metal arts program, which is pretty damn cool.
