@rpgbot.bsky.social Just noticed this on D&D Beyond. I feel like they're finally just embracing reality.

@dcbradshaw.com just got Little But Fierce for Christmas. My little ones and I have just been winging some adventures with no real system. This'll be a great intro to a rules system. Thanks for creating this! Any chance there's a printer-friendly PDF available (without backgrounds)?

Apparently the presence of em dashes—like these—is a common sign of AI-generated text. Guess I'll be gettin' flagged then cuz I love my em dashes—probably more than I should—and the "compose" key on Linux makes them really easy to type. Ellipsis, too…

The Empire killed Jesus. God raised him anyway. Easter is God's protest against violence, injustice, and death. A holy uprising of love, liberation, and life. You can't legislate resurrection away. You can't crucify hope forever. Christ is risen.

In Sim City 2000, when you raised/lowered taxes, it would play a "Yay!" or "Boo!" sound. If I wanted to raise taxes, I would always click the up arrow one extra time (Boo!) so I could end by clicking the down arrow (Yay!). I never imagined that would one day be actual U.S. foreign trade policy.

I hope America is as lucky as the delta jet - everyone survives but the right wing explodes
Video obtained by CNN shows the rear landing gear of the jet buckling and the right wing shearing away in a fireball after the plane landed hard on the runway.

At least the people in Ready Player One had sick VR. Our world is burning down but instead of fulfilling our fantasies in immersive virtual escapism, we get immobile, low-poly marionettes in a chair circle. That and our Oasis is just being built by the evil corporate overlord from the outset.

Our company's public-safety comms app has been removed from from the Google Play store because of a spurious trademark claim. I've got basically no reach, but if yall want to like/share/whatever to try and raise visibility, I'd appreciate it. x.com/TreyToTheSha...
My company's app, Tango Tango, provides mission critical communication to 600+ public safety agencies and was suddenly pulled off the Google Play Store yesterday due to a trademark claim by TangoMe (an adult-oriented video streaming service). We strongly disagree with this claim but Google's process has been "guilty until proven innocent".

We appealed to Google which was denied overnight. Our counsel has attempted outreach to TangoMe's lawyers and I've attempted to contact their CEO directly. Those attempts have met no response. We've had no outreach from TangoMe, before or after, besides this Play Store complaint to Google.

We have operated under the Tango Tango name for 9 years. We have public safety agencies tell us every week how our app helped lead to better outcomes and saved lives. In 2022, our app was used in helping to stop a school shooting in Texas before the first shot was fired. One of our customers is Los Angeles Fire who is currently fighting a wildfire. There is a holiday weekend and Presidential Inauguration upcoming.

How can this suddenly be an emergency to pull down a first responder app *right now* that is used in life safety matters everyday?

We are reasonable people and happy to have a conversation but this is not the right way to do that. Our app should remain available on the Play Store and we are happy to have whatever conversations there are to be had with TangoMe in an orderly fashion.

If you've made it this far, and want to help us and the first responders that we serve - please consider liking, commenting, and/or sharing this for visibility. If you really want to go next level - it would also be appreciated if you message both the @GooglePlay and @TangoMe to ask them to reverse their decisions ASAP.

Occurs to me that there’s a similarity between these politics grifters & fundamentalist apologetics: Their job isn’t REALLY to make an argument that holds up to reflection or scrutiny. It’s to deliver a performance of “erudite person who agrees with me” so you have permission not to think too hard.

I wish more things with color fading features had a so-slow-it's-imperceptible mode. Like, I want to look over at the squishy uwu-cat table light after an hour and think "oh that's a nice new color." I don't want a disco show.

What's the best way to find a TTRPG group? I really want to find a group, but it needs to be a good fit. I don't even really care what game we're playing. Has anyone had any luck with rpgtablefinder.com? Is there a discord server? How does this happen?

I made this Pride flag using only NASA images and our team thought it would be cool to share on social (I work on the NASA heliophysics communications team), but it's getting all sorts of hate on the bird app and Fbook. Thought y'all might be more appreciative of it here. ☺️🏳️‍🌈💖
A pride flag with every color band represented by a NASA image. White is Earth clouds, pink is aurora, blue is the Sun in a specific wavelength, brown is Jupiter clouds, black is the Hubble deep field, red is the top of sprites, orange is a Mars crater, yellow is the surface of Io, green is a lake with algae, blue is Neptune, and purple is the Crab Nebula in a specific wavelength.

I'm worried about Gen Alpha.
A screenshot of a Tumblr post by user yokowan:

I taught programming to middle school kids last summer and I don't think you understand how bad it's getting.

a lot of these kids don't know what a "folder" is. some of them don't even know how to right click. I asked my class to put a folder on their desktop and half of the students did not know how. these are like, 11-13 year olds who's parents thought they were tech literate enough to sign them up for a programming class. most of them did not know how to add a bookmark on their browser. most of them could not touch type.

basic computer literacy is evaporating because everyone does everything on their phone now, but schools are getting rid of any computer classes because "all the kids are using computers all the time anyways!"

I hope they'll learn more as they get older but many of them wont. the divide between "basic user" and "advanced user" is quickly shifting towards knowing the most simple functions of a computer, and the more

One of my favorite games is Guess Who, but you're not allowed to use physical characteristics. "Has your person ever committed tax fraud?" "Do they talk more loudly than others?" "Do they have a preferred flavor of Mountain Dew?" It's a co-op game. You win if you're both successful.
