I know but I think thats a product of not really looks at places that have done what you suggest like the US

Nathan @nath-ormond.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
I don't disagree but also think this is independent of my points. i.e. everything I said could be correct AND your point could be right or wrong. No entailment.

Nathan @nath-ormond.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
I disagree. I think you're raising an independent concern about improvements to the mechanisms of the commons and those concerns aren't wrong, but not relevant to this. Given the assumption you subscribe to it being important to have an independent legistlature review body, you're mistaken.

This is a really bad idea IMO that would just make it identical to the commons and redundant. We can essentially see the gridlock this causes in the US system.

Yeah, though the counter-argument would go that hereditary peers is one of the best mechanisms for practically achieving this

Nathan @nath-ormond.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Agree with you on everything except Lords reform. Maybe hereditary isn't the right thing, but we need more mechanisms to make sure the Lords is packed out with party-independent expertise from across society. People deeply invested in the coutry from different backgrounds away from party pol.

So pleased to hear this confirmed in the PM’s speech. Big congrats to @makevotesmatter.bsky.social and all who’ve campaigned for it! At last we have a chance to restore trust in our politics with a system where “everyone’s views count and everyone’s vote matters” 👏👏👏

The Burnham speech: firstly, it was a vision. We've not had a national vision for two decades at least. If he can persuade the country on fixing the EU relationship, political reform, establishing a new care system and his theory of growth holds then he will be a transformational Prime Minister.

Im not saying your way of putting it is wrong, but I do think it's an independent question of the one that Barnes tries to put. I think he puts it unsuccesfully, but I don't think this rebuttal prevents you asking another question.

Jason Arday's utterly sad death holds a stark mirror up to the dehumanising political-media-societal culture we are in – one we must all be honest about being complicit in – which forgets there is a human being at the centre of a story, a case study, an issue, a scandal. It is dehumanising.

There are differences but in my opinion the main themes that underwrite these considerations all come from Indus region theology/Philosophy and cross-contamination of ideas through silk-road traid and Macedonian conquest.
