I'm on a team developing a game for this currently, it's genuinely a great little console. Easy and fun to set up, good selection of IP and original games, a lot of care has clearly gone in to the overall experience.

Yeah someone shared an article with me with this notion, but it's speculation I really want to know what the actual reason was. Most likely contender though. Normal lifts like this simply open both door with one button, idk why it would be designed differently for any reason.

A couple of people have suggested how this might be intentional, but given the poor instructions, wrong picture, lack of braille, I don't think so.
