Women with HCM are often diagnosed later and face more severe disease than men, but why? 🤔 The reasons aren’t fully understood. What's clear, though, is that most clinical guidelines for HCM are based on research that predominantly includes male participants. 📖 Related work: bit.ly/41uqyj1

🚨 New paper alert! 🚨 Using SHaRe registry data, we explored how clinical & genetic risk factors influence heart failure, arrhythmias, and mortality in men & women with HCM. This study, from my PhD, emphasises the need for sex-specific approaches to improve care. 📖 Read more: bit.ly/41vlF9r

What happens when #genomic testing is funded?🧬 👉 rdcu.be/d8MSL Last 10yrs 🇦🇺: Many tests approved as evidence grows ✅ BUT testing volumes low AND inequitable access Budget impact of #genomics minor: AU$3Mpa or <0.01% of all health expenditure 💰 @ausgenomics.bsky.social @iliasgoranitis.bsky.social

NGL - I really enjoyed reading this... My fave sentence early on is: "Space, place, stuff and things matter to the vibe" ...the vibes (hehehe) of this piece are that it starts out reading like a jokey thing, and gets increasingly more serious, compelling etc. Recommend! :)

Happy genetic counselor awareness day to all who observe this holiday 🧬 Genetic counselors are critical to delivery of genomic medicine. In Australia we have many genomic testing item numbers that fund testing, and yet we don’t reimburse genetic counsellors to deliver this… #genechat #medsky #gcad
