Kim Gordon’s “Girls Invented Punk Rock, Not England” t-shirt was made by a fan, thrown onstage during a Sonic Youth show. The slogan stemmed from an interview where Gordon offered her perspective on where punk originated, crediting women over the punk-subculture that emerged in the UK in the ‘70s.
