1/2 DP rejects the classical view of presence according to which an object is either present or absent at a given point or in a given state. It proposes a third possibility: before actualization, the presence of a physical entity may be distributed across several admissible states. #Quantum #PhilSky

1/5 In the Distributed Presence (DP) framework, a measured value does not represent a definite, pre-existing state that was already possessed by the system prior to measurement. #MeasurementProblem #Quantum #PhilSky #PhilSci ⚛️ 🧪

Many foundational approaches try to add something to #QM like guiding waves or remove something like objective reality. DP keeps standard QM exactly as it is mathematically, but grounds the abstract Hilbert space vectors in a real, unified physical structure. No new math, just profound new meaning.

1/2 Why does the wavefunction #collapse? Spoiler: It doesn’t. In DP, the system is objectively “distributed” across possible channels before measurement. Measurement is simply a “structural coupling” that forces a single-channel realization. #DPontology #Quantum #PhilSky ⚛️ 🧪

If DP is empirically equivalent to standard QM, what does it add? It resolves the Measurement Problem, and Wave-Particle duality without ad hoc collapse postulates, hidden variables, or infinite branching universes. It provides a direct geometric and ontological origin for the Born rule. #Quantum 🧪⚛️

A huge crisis in modern #physics comes from our classical hangover: clinging to the concept of a “trajectory.” DP suggests a paradigm shift. If we drop trajectories and move to “structure-based” determination, the paradoxes vanish. #Quantum objects don’t travel paths; they distribute presence.

Many-Worlds say the universe splits every time a quantum measurement happens. DP prefers ontological economy. We don’t need infinite unobservable universes. We just need to accept that reality can exist as a “distributed presence” before a physical interaction actualizes a single channel. 🧪⚛️💡

What’s #wave-particle-duality. It’s not a magical shape-shifting trick. The wave aspect is just the distributed presence of the system (how it sits in the state space). The particle aspect is just the localized single-channel interaction. Two sides of the same structural coin. #Quantum #PhilSky 🧪⚛️

#Physics often acts like “Information” is the fundamental building block of the universe (Information-first approaches). DP disagrees. Information implies an observer. DP offers a structural ontology of determination. The structure exists objectively, whether we extract information from it or not.

In many interpretations, the #decay mechanism remains a mystery. In DP, #Collapse is simply a necessary “structural transition” that is initiated by coupling with the environment. The #quantum particle has a distributed presence but can only interact with the environment in a single channel.

In DP, #interference patterns arise not from the dynamic propagation of waves, but from the static geometry of the presence. The structural geometry of the presence provides the context for the interference pattern, and the dynamics statistically creates it gradually. #DPontology #PhilSky #Quantum ⚛️

Is DP a ψ-ontic or ψ-epistemic model? Neither, exactly. It is Π-ontic. The presence distribution (Π) is the physical reality; ψ is merely the epistemic/mathematical representation of that reality. #QuantumFoundations #DPontology #PhilSky #PhilSci ⚛️ 🧪
