The Psychopomp @narzoth.bsky.social · 01/10/2026The choppiness of his speech is getting worse. Small bits. Lots of left-outs. Forgotten. Words. Left out words. Then remember. Repeat. When remembered. Restate to do-over. Leaves out words (the best words) he can't find, then restates them. When he remembers. As a do-over. Good brain. 040
The Psychopomp @narzoth.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Someone needs to make a video with the audio from this commercial over the light streaming from Unicron's maw. 020
The Psychopomp @narzoth.bsky.social · 26/09/2026But as far as a dedicated guide on "how to play your toy soldiers as individuals" like the 6e rulebook appendix and the Skirmish pamphlet, I don't think so. 110
The Psychopomp @narzoth.bsky.social · 26/09/2026There was a skirmish scenario in the 5th edition Siege book. I think there were some skirmish scenarios in the old campaign packs like Terror of the Lichemaster? I remember when reading the WHFB 3e rulebook, I noted a distinct lack of anything saying said you HAD to play with massed units... 110
The Psychopomp @narzoth.bsky.social · 25/09/2026That's because this was just another play date during the Make-A-Wish presidency. 000
The Psychopomp @narzoth.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Look, I'm just saying that 'holo' implies some sort of optical storage technology, and evidence points to massive storage capacity - those robots have been running for over two hundred years (!) and not run out of memory to store their experiences in. No wonder a few develop sapience... 010
The Psychopomp @narzoth.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Not to "Um, acktually..." here, but to totally "Um, acktually..." here: The reels are an unknown form of branch-off technology called holotapes. We don't actually know how they function or if magnetism is involved. 110
The Psychopomp @narzoth.bsky.social · 24/09/2026I've got a friend who sometimes does things like, "I printed and painted this one mini because it looks really cool. I have no idea what an 'owlbear' even is, but it's awesome. Guess I'll store it in the LotR tub for now..." and I'm so envious of that. 110
The Psychopomp @narzoth.bsky.social · 24/09/2026That's been a goal of mine for a long time, but I'm shocked at how badly starting with WHFB has conditioned me to, "Well, I guess I need 17 of these with 3-man command squad to start with..." thinking. I plan EVERYTHING as if I'm going to be playing 2000 points of rank n' flank this weekend. 110

The Psychopomp @narzoth.bsky.social · 19/09/2026He has no idea what AI is and less of how it works or what it does. It's just another in 3-4 decades of magic words - like "modem" and "Internet" and "URL" - that he's heard the tech wizards use to conjure up the things people say about him in the nether dimension they call "online". 010
The Psychopomp @narzoth.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Speaking from a late GenX / Xennial perspective: the average Boomers still luxuriate in computer illiteracy. Like, they just WALLOW in it, like pigs in mud. Any computing tech is a magic mystery box containing a small god or demon that makes Amazon and 'the videos' happen. 110
The Psychopomp @narzoth.bsky.social · 19/09/2026The Boomers are still relying on GenX to hook up their printers for them. AND to print things out for them. The mystery box has been on their desk for at least 30 years now, and they still hit the power button every day with trepidation as to whether or not that's the actual 'GO' button. 000
The Psychopomp @narzoth.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Late GenX / Xennial checking in from invisibility: I don't think that's a Boomer opinion, and it gives Boomers too much credit. The Boomers on the average are too computer illiterate to be anti-enshittification: they just accept that the small god of the mystery box works in strange ways. 100

The Psychopomp @narzoth.bsky.social · 17/09/202620 year old me wouldn't get a word in edgewise, given the vehemence with which I would be telling him (A) trazadone, motherfucker, get you a prescription ASAP, and (B) your college advisor fucked up your hours conversion from quarters to semesters, get it fixed and you can still finish soon! 010
The Psychopomp @narzoth.bsky.social · 17/09/2026The vibecession may be made cloudier by the fact that decades of anti-intellectualism have reduced the populace to using the wrong terminology, thus confusing educated theorists? The Psychopomp @narzoth.bsky.social · 17/09/2026So, what if a large number of respondents simply don't know exactly what "inflation" means, and are using it as "the bad word for when you feel nervous about stuff"? 101
The Psychopomp @narzoth.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Yesterday, out of nowhere, for no reason, my brain served up the sound of Carrot Top going, "one eight hundred, dial A T T." I've been scared to think verbally ever since. 010
The Psychopomp @narzoth.bsky.social · 17/09/2026I wouldn't mind hearing your thoughts on Fallout 2D20. Every time I start reading a 2D20 core book, I give up, but because I think, "This is mostly doing what FFG Star Wars/Genesys does, and if I'd encountered 2D20 first, I'd probably be bouncing off Genesys like this." 020
The Psychopomp @narzoth.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Yeah, that tracks with my experience looking. You'd think Heinz would jump on this, at least, given that I can find their malt vinegar and brown sauce at my local grocery. 110
The Psychopomp @narzoth.bsky.social · 17/09/2026There seems to be a related instinct that, when times feel bad, we buy less and try to save more. And perhaps we interpret that as 'not being able to afford things' rather than 'something has me defensively hunkering down as a consumer'. 010
The Psychopomp @narzoth.bsky.social · 17/09/2026I have a hypothesis that I have neither the means nor expertise to test: In our extreme consumer society, Americans are prone to interpreting general political discomfort or pain as 'Is it that I can't buy enough stuff? Yeah, that must be it...what's that word from the news? Inflation?" 110
The Psychopomp @narzoth.bsky.social · 17/09/2026It's because you ate one of those 1993 Halloween Oreo packs, isn't it? Get well soon! 010

The Psychopomp @narzoth.bsky.social · 15/09/2026It's there in how Seldon's psychohistory can't predict the actions of an individual on any time frame, but can chart the general flow of human behavior for a thousand years well enough to record time-released explainers to activate as needed. 110
The Psychopomp @narzoth.bsky.social · 15/09/2026I think one could make a case that you could sum it up as "Lots of things happen in the day to day, but they never change what humanity is." 110
