If you watch the Academy Awards and marvel at the beauty of the dresses, yes, they are beautiful, but I saw one of Cate Blanchette’s most famous ones in person and it is disgustingly tiny. The pressure to be that small so you can look good in a gown is something I would never want no matter what

When you say “chemicals”, can you be more specific? I know this is pedantic, but it drives me nuts. Everything is a chemical. I use distilled water in a medical device I use and it is as pure as it gets, but guess what, water is still a chemical.

2/2 I know it’s a trope, but I also know people for whom this is reality. There are people working two and three jobs just to get by. They do not have the luxury to be on social media, go to rallies or call their reps. They are emotionally, physically, and intellectually exhausted from existing.

1/2 It’s more about things like me being able to go to a rally on a Monday because I freelance and I gave myself the day off. My grandmother, who immigrated to the United States, was a maid for a rich family would not be able to take the day off to participate in such an event.

I’m so glad you said this. I think about people like waitresses. No customers means no tips. I think about people who don’t have sick time and can’t call out sick for a general strike because they might get fired. It’s classist.

The Indigenous People of North America have decided to go back to calling the Gulf of Mexico, “Chalchiuhtlicueyecatl”. It is what the Nahuatl People originally called it as it is the domain of the goddess Chalchiuhtlicue, who is assoc w/water bodies, including the Gulf of Mexico.

I’m taking my 15 year-old nephew and 13 year-old niece to see Kendrick Lamar and SZA this summer. I’m hoping that I survive the car ride where I am 100% sure those two will fight each other the entire time we are in the car, which is an hour drive each way.

Mass General Brigham has started mass layoffs. One of the first people laid off is an office manager at a suburban campus. The suburban offices are going to be run by one office manager in Boston. According to a doctor at a suburban campus, that is too much for one person and patients will suffer.

This might come as a shock to some, but there are religious groups in the US that aren’t Christian. We have Jewish, Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, Sikh, pagan, and many more groups in the US. And, oh my! there are Christians like Episcopalians who are most definitely not conservative.
