I don't think the salute was on purpose.
I think he is evil for a whole lot of other reasons but the salute feels like a stretch.
Don't get me wrong, I'm incredibly happy he did it since finally people are leaving that cesspool of lies and propaganda, I just don't think he is a literal Nazi.
