A thought provoking presentation from Camilla Smith on a social justice perspective in languages education starting from an acknowledged political position. The example an environmental theme embedding grammar illustrated what can be done in the classroom

A syllabus may mention social equality but if it is organised by grammar rather than social equality the syllabus may be thin on social justice issues Examples of how a theme of colonialism can integrate a focus on both social justice issues and grammar. Thank you @drjoeford.bsky.social

Thanks to Jenni Bindon & Vera Koehler-Lewis for sharing the experience of the West Country Schools Trust of a standardised curriculum as a base that can be built on & interpreted differently for schools in the Trust Teachers freed to think about how to teach
