Something I really wish videoconferencing software would add is a chyron that displayed the persons name and optionally a title. You could still have introductions if you wanted to, but that's all I really need to know. Who you are, what you do.

Yeah, nor did we. It was always kind of "build a car, put it on the map, let's go crazy.". I always wanted an opportunity to try Gaslands, which feels like the next logical step to Car Wars.

That was the copy I owned. I loved learning how to play it and building cars, but I always found the game itself a little too open and sandboxy, maybe? It's possible I just wasn't playing properly - but I still thought it was cool.

I was always a PC gamer (even though I only have a Playstation now). I could have said Half Life or, going back even further, Starflight... but BF1942 blew me away, and became a lifestyle game for several years. It also hooked me on WWII history, which led me to tabletop wargaming.

Speaking of @vucasimulations.bsky.social - this is the game I would most like to try of theirs. Thirty Years Of Misery covers the thirty years war (1618-1648). This is listed as a 2-4 player game. Not sure how well it works multi-handed solo. Looks great though! Well done @domhnallh.bsky.social.

I have a brother in law who worked at CERN for about five years, but he said it's very difficult to "move" to Switzerland. It's a process, apparently. He's in BC now, but it's a place I would love to at least visit!

I thought it ended okay. I wasn't looking for any kind of closure, because that usually ruins the mystery. To me, the "space" reminded me of a procedurally generated environment gone slightly wrong. Like The Matrix, but clunky.

I think it's pretty straight-forward. It's just that VAR has allowed it to be enforced more accurately/rigidly. What's less clear is what constitutes a penalty in the eyes of the ref in any given game. That's sometimes open to interpretation.
