Overall the Cobra Kai finale was fairly satisfying. Every character ended the story pretty much where they should but S6 was kind of a mess overall. It didn't need to be 15 episodes/3 parts and the tone became more of a problem, especially in Part 2

Love how Ellis s history nerd side is always there and how it leads to him calling out to stories that are usually overlooked, its like that moment in Mallory s flashbacks in The Boys " who s gonna make sure their stories live on"

Finished Astro City first ongoing and i really cant recommend it enough, Busiek really gives once again one of the best alternate takes on Superheroes ( or rather their world, bcs heroes arent usually the protagonists but common people ) i ve ever read, just absolutely peak

Ok i need to say the idea that a Superhero character is a minor character in a family soap opera, added for REALISM, is the most fascinating piece of world building in terms of how normalzied Superheroes are in Astro City, Busiek is just a genius

And doing these without research leading to making villains that are actually POC s to be written as racists is actually a great commentary on fake news

Mark Waid and Devin Grayson existing in Astro City is so funny, i wonder how they reacted to it, or if Buisek told them in advance

Also i love how he gasligths Superheroes so easilly

Nahuel Lombardia @nahuellombardia.bsky.social · 06/02/2025

I also love how DC comics exists in the Astro City universe but it just gets oversold by the company that publishes the adventures of the heroes people already sees in their common days

000

Nahuel Lombardia @nahuellombardia.bsky.social · 06/02/2025

The concept of " how would a comic book company focused on Superheroes work in a world in which Superheroes are real" is really fucking good, and its interesting to see it treated in a less cynical way that how Ennis did it with The Legend and Victory Comics in The Boys

Nahuel Lombardia @nahuellombardia.bsky.social · 05/02/2025

So, i get it, this arc is probably the most traditionally superheroic one till now, and that goes against the premise of Astro City, and i ve heard Busiek has even said its a result of his heatlh issues at the time... but honestly i really liked it and i dont think its weak

Nahuel Lombardia @nahuellombardia.bsky.social · 05/02/2025

great ending for his character ngl. keep the mystery

000

Nahuel Lombardia @nahuellombardia.bsky.social · 05/02/2025

Jerks ( But like no bad people, still heroes, just way to focused on the job and ignore personal interactions with civillains)

000

Nahuel Lombardia @nahuellombardia.bsky.social · 05/02/2025

I do think that this arc is the most " classical superhero story" in Astro City as for now and i can understand why that makes so many people consider it the weakest, but i think the themes of exploring how dehumanized criminals are is still present even then
