Nate Hakken @nahakk.bsky.social · 22/09/2026I really wish businesses didn’t cite studies on elite athletes as justification for some policy or strategy. Competitive sports are much different activity then business every day. The other part of it is that sports always have referees that determine fairness on the spot vs litigation in business. 010
Nate Hakken @nahakk.bsky.social · 18/09/2026You forgot the social media hordes to scorched earth activist loop blaming everything on imagined outrage. 000

Nate Hakken @nahakk.bsky.social · 18/09/2026I know it’s hard to fathom but the point of competition in sports is to help people overcome adversity. The higherarchy is a feature not a bug. That’s why their are coaches, teams, referees to help us overcome the challenge. If your reaction is to take the ball and go home. You’ve failed. 000
Nate Hakken @nahakk.bsky.social · 14/09/2026There is this feedback loop between the bots pushing this thinking and scorched earth activists. It’s maddening. 080
Nate Hakken @nahakk.bsky.social · 13/09/2026Please stop taking the bait. It’s complex issue the right is using as a wedge and some people can’t help themselves. Others are just paid to do so. 000
Nate Hakken @nahakk.bsky.social · 25/08/2026It’s just a thing that they can slip in to the debate. Don’t take the bait. 030
Nate Hakken @nahakk.bsky.social · 13/08/2026Pretty sure they already do this. We just have so many people who take the bait. Every. Time. 020
Nate Hakken @nahakk.bsky.social · 07/08/2026I always have assumed he was just billy bob thorton doing a bit… 000

Nate Hakken @nahakk.bsky.social · 05/08/2026At least it makes people who I know I never need to hear their opinion again an easy block. 000
Nate Hakken @nahakk.bsky.social · 16/06/2026I can think of no other obvious evidence of the virtue of diversity than the number of football players who have multiple countries they can represent on an international level. So many of the World Cup teams have multi-ethnic players, or immigrants and strongest teams have strength in diversity. 121
Nate Hakken @nahakk.bsky.social · 12/06/2026Pretty sure there are bike races in Europe that are bigger news. 020
Nate Hakken @nahakk.bsky.social · 09/06/2026I’m a big football fan. Grew up playing in both the US and UK. I have been to matches in 14 countries. I have no interest in the world cup in 2026. Like so many things the US government has made onerous, it’s hard. Instead, I’m putting my energy into things that help my community directly. 000
Nate Hakken @nahakk.bsky.social · 04/06/2026Denmark 1943 a song by Fred Small. The concept that a country shielded their people from the Nazis and helped them to escape when the policy changed. It made me realize that even in the darkest of times people can choose to do the right thing. 040
Nate Hakken @nahakk.bsky.social · 24/05/2026I think there is a whole conversation people are failing to have about what their community is. Social media isn’t a community community is a group of people you are actively engaged with otherwise it’s just a group of casual acquaintances. 000
Nate Hakken @nahakk.bsky.social · 01/04/2026The number of times I’ve seen people go after the person and abandon all pretense of talking about the idea or content on social media is what makes me wonder what kind of communities we live in. If you have that much bile and anger that you can’t talk about an idea without attacking a person? 030
Nate Hakken @nahakk.bsky.social · 01/04/2026Can we get a picture of him standing in line to get in? 010
Nate Hakken @nahakk.bsky.social · 26/03/2026The crazy part of Bluesky is it’s great when people stay in their lanes and areas of knowledge and a train wreck when otherwise intelligent people take the bait and start sad flame wars. 000
Nate Hakken @nahakk.bsky.social · 20/03/2026Ask any Harvard Law grad about the Ted Cruz award. Hint it’s not good. 020
Nate Hakken @nahakk.bsky.social · 18/03/2026What do we call people who then argue with you about the source despite having none of their own? 110
Nate Hakken @nahakk.bsky.social · 09/03/2026Washington has tried to do income tax before and the state constitution forbids it. So I’m guessing this needs to be done in a different way? 020
Nate Hakken @nahakk.bsky.social · 05/03/2026Don’t take the bait and get distracted focus on what matters and continue to participate in the process. 000
