So I was able to finish my 50k yesterday. I had enough time to spare that I could leisurely walk the last 3 miles. The nor'easter was a big issue except for numerous slick sections. The course didn't experience torrential rain. Even late I stayed steady enough to have a cushion.

Race day weather looking decidedly sub optimal for Sunday. Being near BoP won't help. But I've finished sloppy ultras before.

Heading north tomorrow to run a 50k, one I DNF'd in last year. Coming home I plan to visit one of my oldest friends having known her since 1972. And her husband since ~1976. I feel very fortunate to have many friends I've known for multiple decades.

So pleased to hear John Fogerty last night. He is so happy to recover ownership of his songs after all these decades and to perform with his 2 sons. Great show. The audience loved it. I got a reminder about the music I came of age with.

At the risk of inappropriately mentioning this, our youngest child was 4 yo 25 years ago today. It has been challenging ever since for them and us to be both solemn and celebratory on this day. My thoughts are with other families in a similar situation as well as those who lost family members.

Next race (9/27) is a 50k that I DNFd a year ago. My 'training' has been pretty meager before this 12.6 miler yesterday in Shenandoah NP. 2467 vert feet. Steadily up then steadily down. No falls so it was a good run. But it wasn't fast and I'm feeling it today. Not much time for more training.

Much anticipated A-10 this morning. Wanted a sub 2 hour, got a 2:03. So 20 min faster than last year which is good even if I didn't make my goal time. Going to run a 50k in a month. It has a generous time cutoff but also big vertical with a claimed 5600 ft. of climb.

5 miles with the club on a hilly course. Still would like to see a bit more speed but I was largely consistent up and down the hills. Hoping to see my pace drop into the 11 min range. It was warm today and I was thoroughly soaked at the end. Almost 400 ft of climb in 5 miles.
