Demokratie bevormundet also? Ey, Arbeitgeberverband Basel! Aus der aktuellen Cash: www.cash.ch/news/top-new...

Auch der Arbeitgeberverband der Region Basel winkt auf Anfrage der «Basler Zeitung» ab. Man warte vorerst ab und schaue, wie der Regierungsrat die Umsetzung angehe. Dass der Verband unzufrieden mit der neuen Lösung ist, hat er unmittelbar nach der Abstimmung klar gemacht. Es werde noch mehr Bürokratie bei den Arbeitgebern verursacht, zudem würden die Bürgerinnen und Bürger bevormundet.

Am letzten Abstimmungssonntag sprachen sich 53,4 Prozent der Stimmberechtigten für die Vorlage aus, welche die Steuerverschuldung der Leute eindämmen soll. Zuvor hatte der Grosse Rat (das Parlament) beschlossen, dass ein Teil des Lohnes direkt an die Steuerverwaltung geht. Dagegen wurde das Referendum ergriffen, weshalb die Steuerrechtsänderung vor das Volk kam.

I am afraid I have to share this excerpt from Sinclair Lewis's novel "It can't happen here". It's a piece of fiction (from 1935), but it sounds frightfully real as if it could indeed happen here.

Not answering him at all, Sarason demanded that, in order to bring and hold all elements in the country together by that useful Patriotism which always appears upon threat of an outside attack, the government immediately arrange to be insulted and menaced in a well-planned series of deplorable "incidents" on the Mexican border, and declare war on Mexico as soon as America showed that it was getting hot and patriotic enough.

OWNERSHIP

Minimum statutory thresholds starting with opening access to 2% of share ownership to workers.
New Citizens’ Funds designed to acquire shares and accelerate the transfer in order to make Spanish firms more resilient, and less dependent on extractive financial actors, and a transition plan supported by new ESOP-type financing mechanism for workers to acquire their company’ shares in anticipation of a founder or owner’s retirement
