He was only "good" by box score metrics last year - PFF grade was 21st out of 37. And his box score numbers were regressing extremely hard at the time of his injury, as his middling PFF grade predicted. He's not a bad QB, but he ain't good either...average to below average starter level

I guess but check Kirko's tape from this year...as long as he doesn't decline further (big if) and unless McCarthy shows big improvement he's not beating Kirko for a starting job in any truly fair competition lol. Then again KOC was always fond of Kirko so...

Kirko did play well when resuming the starting job this year, although a bit diminished from his prime. By all indication the tape, accuracy was quite good, was really hampered by a ghastly set of pass catchers and an awful OC in Z-Rob. Falcons probably make playoffs if they started Kirko all year

The fumble brought down his grade from 75 to 67.4 but if you watch the QB School breakdown YouTube he shows that even though Sam played well overall he left a lot of meat on the bone. It was more that the entire offense dominated LAR and Klint Kubiak was absolutely in his bag.

We might still be using "competent" generously here! He's been getting much better but still has a ways to go in terms of that whole "throwing the ball accurately" thing. I'd like to see if he can keep this up and continue to grow in his 3rd year next year too

Shouldn't they be Zero-blitzing him as much as possible and daring him to put enough heat on the ball to complete a pass in tight man-to-man coverage? I guess the downside is he knows how to recognize a zero blitz and find the hot route pretty quickly?

Brosmer has an extremely weak arm AND dreadful decision making AND can't process things fast enough. That ball to Addison was hanging in the air for an eternity and Brosmer put his entire body into it, only for it to be very easily intercepted...

There were a couple reps (deep completion to Addison and cover 2 hole shot to JA) where it look like he didn't fully complete hip rotation and got "pushy/extendy" with back leg, thus ended up with weight more out front and "arming" the throw a little bit more than the other reps which were clean

We might be using different terminology to describe the same thing. You don't want to "push" i.e. triple-extending via the quad, as this doesn't allow you to complete hip rotation. Rather, you want to coil into the back hip and let the hips "open", which then brings energy up the kinetic chain.

Maybe I didn't explain it well but it seems like JJ's weight leaks forward and is heavy on his front leg at ball release. Almost like he's pushing off instead of rotating. Compare it with some guys like Allen - they keep the weight "behind" the front leg. Could be related to incomplete hip rotation

These are very nice throws but is it just me or does his weight leak forward onto his front side a lot on his throws, esp when he's trying to rip one? In baseball hitting and throwing if you get out on front side too much you lose power and have to "arm" the throw and leads to inaccuracy - thoughts?
