The Canadian Psychological Association has arranged group rates at three hotels for its 88th Annual National Convention, which #N6 is held alongside. We recommend booking soon. In previous years, rooms at the conference hotel sold out quickly!

We’re pleased to share more about the first of our five keynote speakers for N6 ✨

Professor Alex R. Piquero is one of the world’s leading criminologists, with a distinguished career spanning research, policy, and public service. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminology, and an Arts and Sciences Distinguished Scholar at the University of Miami. As former Director of the Bureau of Justice Statistics and a recipient of multiple lifetime achievement awards, Professor Piquero’s work has shaped how evidence is used to understand criminal careers and inform justice policy.

In his keynote, “But first there was citrus fruit, a naval ship, and scurvy: Successes and challenges using scientific research to inform criminal justice policy decisions,” Professor Piquero will examine how scientific evidence can guide policy decisions on issues ranging from mandatory minimum sentencing and early childhood crime prevention to immigration and crime. Drawing on his extensive experience in both research and public policy, Professor Piquero will offer valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges of translating scientific evidence into meaningful criminal justice reform.
