n3wscott @n3wscott.com · 03/07/2025I am fairly certain that kube rate limiters are broken. I am not seeing anyone use custom informer handlers to avoid using work queue.Add, and doing this bypasses any delayed queue or rate limit that has been set. And if informers do call AddRateLimited, you get extra delay if you have lots of kids 110
n3wscott @n3wscott.com · 17/05/2025acre = area = foot^2; foot^2 * 1 foot = foot^3 = volume. A pretty reasonable thing to measure water usage as you can swag the area of a pond and then measure the drop. 000

n3wscott @n3wscott.com · 12/01/2025Threads are great! And human contact is also great. For the person who does not notice those long threads, how are they getting the culture and reinforcements of how the company thinks as a unit? Does your environment have a "second chance" to consume those important messages? 110

n3wscott @n3wscott.com · 11/01/2025open source projects that enable many vendors to collaborate on a common core. Like a Linux or Kubernetes scale project. There are very few of them. The CNCF is now stuffed full of single vendor open source and very very few grandiose projects whose goal is to lift all ships if you know what I mean 030
n3wscott @n3wscott.com · 11/01/2025it is so important to spend some time being people together with the people you work with, it helps understand the tone in that code review or design document. Personally I had trouble with the social slack channels just because they are so noisy. Random calls are always welcome, no need to book it. 140

n3wscott @n3wscott.com · 11/01/2025I am finding a disconnect between what I think is interesting and should be built vs where the money is in our industry and I have a theory... Tech people build tech. You have a hard time selling tools to tech people because they build them. The money comes from selling magic to the non-technical. 2112
