The long axis of the oval is nearly vertical. Dramatic dark dust lanes cross in front of the center of the galaxy. To the right of the spiral is a smaller disk galaxy. It appears to be at almost a right angle to the large spiral. It is overexposed and no details are seen in the center of the galaxy. The two galaxies are connected by a bridge of material. A few white dots, which are stars, are seen on the black background.

The Titan image—captured on March 31, 2005—was created in a manner similar to that of the Saturn composite. Assembly by Val Klavans.

These two color composites were merged in Paint Shop Pro 9, using a special 'mask' layer, created by Ian Regan and Val Klavans.

Rosetta OSIRIS-Wide Angle Camera view of Comet 67P taken during a far excursion on April 11, 2015. When this image was taken, Rosetta was located about 140 km from the comet's center, at a 90 degree phase angle, allowing the spacecraft to observe a half-lit comet.

The day side of the comet experiences intense outgassing activity, forming the bright jets of gas and dust that face sunward. The material in these jets eventually spreads out into a diffuse cloud called the coma. The presence of the coma allowed Rosetta to observe the comet's shadow.

This image uses HDR to bring out details of the comet's jets without overexposing the comet's surface. The jets are much fainter than the comet's surface, and are barely visible in a properly exposed image.

Clad in rich, indigo-dyed keikogi and hakama, and fitted with full armor—men (helmet), dō (chest protector), kote (gauntlets), and tare (waist armor)—the practitioner extends a shinai (bamboo sword) directly forward in a powerful, thrusting posture. A sharp spotlight illuminates the lacquered surface of the dō and the metallic grille of the men, carving the practitioner's silhouette against the dark background. Bare feet hover above a circular pool of light on the floor, conveying a sense of weightlessness suspended in time.
