A grayscale NIRCam image of NGC 3147, a spiral galaxy with a prominent central bulge and tightly wound spiral arms. The bright core of the galaxy transitions to a fainter, more diffuse halo. Imagine you’re at a party and it’s pretty chill and then all the sudden a bunch of really angry Nazis show up and start trashing the place. Nobody would say you have to stay at that party or else you’d be “ceding ground.” Especially when there’s a fun party down the street you can go to.
