Back in 2024, I made a prototype of a Doors clone in VRC. This was abandoned for some time, but I've recently picked it back up, especially since R4D is currently on hiatus. Main thing that stopped me for a while was figuring out lighting. The recent release of VRCLV v3 has changed that.

Maybe when VRC fully moves over to Unity 6, I can work on R4D again. It's been difficult to do anything on it for years due to the memory leaks of the current Unity editor, and it's only been getting worse..

4 years later and I still can't update R4D on time. I would've had an update out last month. But after my promotion at work, I've been stuck in a cycle of distraction w/ other things (games, physical self-care, etc.) after work hours. I'm still working on it, just super slowly this time around.

Sorry for my lack of updates. I've been focusing a bit more on self-care this year (mainly weight loss). I've been working on a couple of new rooms in R4D for a while now, and I'm hoping I can at least get one of those done before the end of next week.

Forgot to post something here a couple days ago, but I did recently push an update to Rooms 4 Dayz to fix an issue with teleporting between rooms (VRC broke my original, hacky way). Hopefully now I can start pushing actual updates.

I'm picking back up work on R4D ever so slowly. I've just been stressed out lately with the usual life stuff (with extra stress in the form of possibly purchasing a house). I'll have some vids/images to post on R4D later on in the coming weeks.

I don't want to stop working on this project. Maybe I just need to stop forcing myself to this schedule I've set for myself and see where it goes. At the very least, I hope I can fill in the remaining space without giving up.

This project is different. As silly as it sounds, the main reason R4D has stayed alive this long is because I actually stuck with a weekly deadline. And you know what? That worked out very well for me! I actually got things done. But as of late, it just feels more like a chore...

This project has had the longest lifespan of anything else I've worked on too. Usually when I come up with something esoteric/outlandish, I work on it for a bit, get bored, and then set it aside where it never sees the light of day ever again. I've done this hundreds of times...

R4D is the farthest I've ever gotten in anything I've worked on (both VRC & Non-VRC related stuff). But I know that if I stop updating weekly, I will hardly update it at all. The weekly updates are my main goal. And if that's gone, then I fear it may never be completed.

I think it's best that I stop trying to update Rooms 4 Dayz every Friday. I haven't been keeping up like I originally did years ago, and I feel more burnt out than ever. I want to keep going, but as of late I haven't been feeling motivated at all...
