mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 13/10/2026This baby raccoon is only a month old… in October. I know AZ has good temps all year round but come on now. I’m tired and ready for baby season to be done. Although him sucking on my finger made my year. He did finally figure out the bottle had the milk and not my finger 221 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 13/10/2026Seven falls in Sabino Canyon did not disappoint and we saw a blooming saguaro ( in October!) and bighorn sheep!! 020 0

mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 01/10/2026We finally got in a baby kangaroo rat! All season we keep getting similar looking small rodents that some staff thought were small kangaroo rats but they were actually pocket mice. Still very cute but not as large as these guys and without the larger triangular head. One of my favorite species 010 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Our last group of baby skunks got released this weekend. They came out of their crate and were so happy to start exploring. You can tell the difference between the hooded and the striped skunks by how long their tails are. These are two of the hooded skunks 011 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 28/09/2026The baby javelina chose violence. She will randomly bite and try to rip the nipple off. Maybe this is why so many baby javelinas come into care 😂 She had to have her face washed after this too which she also didn’t appreciate 021 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Sometimes you need to go pretend to be a mermaid in hidden pools in the desert ❤️🧜♀️ 020 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Some species we can use insects to test their hunting skills. Our baby roadrunner who came in as a hatchling has great hunting skills although he did try to present me with his catch. Roadrunners habituate easily and even wild roadrunners will hang out around humans and beg for food 000 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 22/09/2026We got in a California Leaf Nose bat with some head trauma. He is very dizzy and can’t fly but seems to be doing ok in care. It’s new species for us to get to work with so we are all very excited 010 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Multiple birds have come in this week stuck in these weeds. We think they are called Brittle Bush. The leaves and stems are getting so entangled in their feathers they can’t fly. This is a new one for me. Bird vs plant 020 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 15/09/2026The red spotted toads are out en mass and so so cute 110 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 14/09/2026Just when we thought baby season was over we got in these two hatchling Harris Hawks. We tried renesting but the parents ignored them, perhaps also realizing that they made a mistake hatching eggs in September. So for now we will do our best to raise these two to be wild 010 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 07/09/2026Went paddleboarding at lake Powell. The water level is the lowest it’s been since 1969. In the first picture all the way on the right is where the boat launch was the last time I paddled there- maybe 2 years ago. All the way on the left is where you can put in now. It was a decent hike down :( 010 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 03/09/2026Baby javelina milk drinking technique was to 1:dip face in it 2:let it drip onto rim and 3: suck it off rim 010 0

mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 30/08/2026Very rare for us to get to work with burrowing owls but we got one in! Luckily he had a very minor injury and was able to be sent back to the rest of his colony after just a week. I really enjoyed getting the opportunity to see this amazing creature up close 010 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 28/08/2026When the bat you are trying to feed is so ready for release it flies circles around your head while you stand there defeated waiting for it to land 🤣 She did in fact get released that night 000 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 20/08/2026Our baby bobcat that came in early this season was too friendly and no amount of hazing or putting her in with the other bobcats helped wild her up. She also has stayed smaller than the other two. We determined she was non releasable and have decided to try to get her placement in a zoo 010 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 15/08/2026Was only able to do a little over a mile due to time constraints but I at least got out and did a little hiking over my weekend. Pima canyon 000 0

mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 05/08/2026At first glance this may look like an earthworm but it’s actually a thread snake! One of the smallest species of snake and very rare to see as they spend most of their time underground. Their diet consists of small insects. Owls bring thread snakes back to their nests to use them as pest control 010 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 05/08/2026We use falconry masks to keep our birds calm while we work on them. The googly eyes are because sometimes you need a good laugh 🤣 000 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 04/08/2026Skunks vs hornworms. I’m not 100% sure why they are digging on top of the worms but it sure is cute 000 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 02/08/2026We got a baby nighthawk in care simply because it got kidnapped. Nighthawks don’t make nests. They lay eggs in a shallow depression on the ground. The young are well camouflaged and stay perfectly still. This guy was picked up somewhere along a bike path so reuniting may not be possible for him 000 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 01/08/2026Quick weekend trip to San Diego to hang out by the ocean for a bit and regroup. Weather was perfect and food and drinks were delicious. Hopefully will be able to plan another trip back soon! 001 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 16/07/2026Truly love the views here in Tucson. Beautiful sunsets, amazing landscape, and monsoon storms 010 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 16/07/2026This mated pair of kestrels came in to care after suffering from symptoms of rodent poisoning. Not all rodent poison has a treatment. If they recover depends on how many infected rodents they ate and if they respond well to supportive care. For now they are hanging in there and we are hopeful 010 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 13/07/2026I have been waiting all season for baby skunks and they are here! 020 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 29/06/2026Everytime I go hiking I find little places under tree roots or rocks and I think “ what a great place for a snake!” But never see one, so I was ecstatic when I thought that about these exposed roots and sure enough there was a beautiful rattlesnake hanging out 000 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 28/06/2026So in love with our baby swallows. We think one is a barn swallow and one is a cliff swallow. Usually these guys don’t eat well in care but these guys are chowing down. Since they eat on the wing they never quite figure out how to eat on their own so they need to be hand fed up to release 000 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 27/06/2026Amazing that a place like this exists just an hour away from Tucson. Mt Lemmon has some beautiful hikes that can still be done even during heat waves 000 0

mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 20/06/2026Baby Cooper’s hawks are coming in at an alarming rate. In the June heat they jump from their nests which makes them more susceptible to injury, predation and kidnapping from humans. Healthy babies are often picked up even when parents are still in the area taking care of them. Renest if possible! 0317 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 16/06/2026This spotted ground squirrel is my newest obsession. We have so many different species of ground squirrel but he is the first spotted we have gotten into care 010 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 13/06/2026Our baby raccoon was depressed without her mom and siblings and not eating. Once she figured out the formula bowl she lost her little mind about it 000 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 27/05/2026Still just a baby herself this northern mockingbirds instincts kicked in big time when we put a young nestling in her enclosure. We try to always make sure our babies have conspecifics to grow up with to prevent habituation but we didn’t expect her to take on the role of mom ❤️ 000 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 22/05/2026This poor bobcat kitten was hit by a car and suffered a broken humerus. She was also very neuro and needs to be syringe fed until she is more stable. The finder was an EMT and tried administering aid but wildlife is very different from human medicine and it just resulted in more trauma. 010 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 19/05/20262 years ago I was in Peru hiking the Inca Trail which was one of the best trips I’ve ever done. mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 17/05/2026This spicy baby Gila monster was stuck on a glue trap and luckily received no serious injuries. We were able to release her back in her area. Please don’t use glue traps. They are illegal in other countries for a reason 010 0

mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 13/05/2026My favorite thing about teaching baby birds to self feed is when they gape at the food like the worm is going to jump in there for them. “Get in my belly!” 000 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 03/05/2026We got babies!! Baby squirrels (3 different species), baby coyotes, packrats, mice, raccoon and bobcat. And those are just the mammals 🙃 010 0
mywildlife.bsky.social @mywildlife.bsky.social · 21/04/2026Our baby Harris Antelope squirrels are some of the cutest things I’ve ever seen. They may look like chipmunks but they don’t have the correct facial markings. These are actually a species of small ground squirrel 020 0
