I like drawing silly pictures and reading books. Architectosaurus by day, human being by night.

Every time I’m using my (foot powered, not electric) scooter, which is almost every other day to keep up with a toddler on a bike, Thrift Shop is playing in the back of my mind. So yes. The daily earworm. 😁

Urgh, I constantly uninstall / reinstall social media apps on my phone, so this spoke to me so much! (Ironically, I just consume, I don’t even engage, post my drawings or comment much). Maybe, just maybe, a short break will make my relationship with the dopamine machine more constructive? Nope.

Now that the discourse around Nolan’s Odyssey has finally moved on, I can post this funny take I started drawing around… March? Drawing sure takes me a long time.

Ouch, I forgot the Alt text for this one and I dunno how I can edit this.

I got an easel for my birthday! I am very happy with it, so I went ham with cheap paper and cheap colours and played like a kid.

I think it happens when the metadata from Photoshop or Canva is flagged, because these have AI tools and… ow well. If one uses an older version of Photoshop from The Before Times or Clip Studio it should be fine?

Ouchh, felt this strike me deep in my bones 😁.

Not only because the results are not cutting it (though what would happen if they were good enough is a whole other question). But because there’s people out there who genuinely love this, make their living from this and are baffled and scared to find the rug pulled out from under them.

I dislike 3D modeling and texturing though, even though I have to do this for work almost daily. I learned a lot of stuff I didn’t know by asking the artificial hivemind, but in-depth explanations are still lacking. Outsourcing it completely to the machine is out of the question.

Same goes for drawing: I cannot imagine outsourcing either linework or shading to the machine. It is what it is. It is my hobby, my pleasure and my work.

Weird AI take: the more these tools get pushed on me, the more I enjoy doing every tedious task I can think of by hand. A complicated chart graphic? I’ll do it, I won’t have to double check every tiny little thing AND it will be editable. It won’t take me much more than explaining all the context.

The grand attention span of a common pigeon. (The pun being that șpan in Romanian means metal shavings, so why not have a pigeon weld your metal doorframe. They do a good job. Eventually.)
A drawing of a blue/purplish pigeon in dark blue overalls and a welding mask welding a door and getting very distracted by a loaf of bread on the floor.

Should probably mention the ACOMAF “Good Soup!” reference, only I changed it to a classic sour Eastern European fare. And now I’m hungry. (drawn with my finger in Fresco).

A drawing of a blue bowl of soup and a spoon, titled Good Ciorba! (A reference to ACOMAF’s Good Soup!) on a blueish background.

A bottle of PKD’s Ubik, now in classic late Eastern European Siphon flavour.
A drawing of a green siphon bottle (carbonated water). The label says UBIK and the background is light green, with Philip K Dick written vertically.

Cows at dusk and hillside in the blinding sun. Drawn with my finger in Fresco.
Two cows (brown) on a green hillside at dusk (purple sky). Desaturated, very sketch-like. A green hillside in strong sun with a blue sky woth some clouds. Mostly just blobs of paint.

I’m going to make a thread of all the tiny doodles, because did I mention I am proud of them, mistakes and all? This is day 1:
A blue blob of watercolour that contains a crouched dalmatian licking its paw, wearing a Santa hat.

This is what it looks like right now (I am pretty pleased with the progress and the fact that I have been consistent throughout, even if some days I would do two drawings in order to compensate for a very busy chaotic schedule):
Watercolour blob advent calendar filled with animal Christmassy fantasy characters up to number 14.

This year, counting down for Christmas, I decided to do a doodle Advent Calendar. Draw blobs on a blank page, fill them up with colours and then draw something inside each blob daily. This is how it started:
Colourful watercolour blobs painted on a white page, titled Advent Calendar 2025.

If I could, I would start a trend of people saying Glawr! anywhere and anytime they achieve something nice (even a spot of troublesome cleaning does the trick!).

I read Virginia Woolf’s Orlando and all I could come up with is this cheery wolf, specifically for celebrating the little victories in the daily life (and also manifesting a special pension for nothing but doing art and writing, I guess 😅).
A blue-ish wolf, happily grinning with its mouth open. Dressed in an orange dress with white frills in front, Glawr! Written above it.

Hear me out: Dune, but the worms are giant pigeons.
Alternate poster of Dune - the movie - only there’s a giant pigeon instead of a worm and the guy is pouring maize instead of setting a thumper.

I was lucky no men were ogling me while I was breastfeeding. It was mostly other women or grandmas with small babies looking intensely or making conversation. Cue the baby turning over to see what’s up and leaving the tit wide open.

Hello there! I am just getting comfy in this new spot, so here is a blue drawing I am really proud of. Of course, Gideon Nav (reading her magazine “for the articles”) and Harrowhark Nonagesimus, from the brilliant Locked Tomb trilogy.
Two characters from the Gideon the Ninth / Harrow the Ninth books: Gideon Nav sprawled on a dilapidated couch reading Frontline Titties of the Fifth (for the articles) and Harrowhark Nonagesimus eyeing her and sending some bones to rouse Griddle from… being lazy I suppose?
