the thing i dont like about ace combat 8 is that it feels like the balkanization of the FCU is a prelude to electrosphere’s corporatocracy, and like. that shit is imminent. with 7 you could still act like it’s a far off future but dog 8 is only 11 years before 3.

i think my only complaint about ace combat 8 is probably that i think (and this is a double edged sword) i think this game is really missing some more whimsical feeling setpieces and missions. this could change but i’m like 26 missions deep and i don’t see the last 4 being super crazy suddenly

i feel like ace combat is kind of thematically the same kind of thematic anti-war war game that the metal gear solid games tend to be, and i really think a lot about how starting with electrosphere the entire games’ thematic focus has always been the human cost of war

the thing that really got me about control resonant is that i love how boldly it departs from control. it’s not a constant line of cameos from ahti and jesse and every altered item and alan wake and the former. genuinely feels so confident that it can carry itself on mostly novel ideas.
